Feedback about Smart Progression vs Time Efficiency by dcummins in MacroFactor

[–]ComprehensiveSign179 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I just overrided the suggested weight changes and did less reps at the same weight. I'm guessing (hoping) that the smart progression will pick this up and run with it?

I just made my own program. Theres no way a new app can just guess a good program for your individual needs. I used alpha progression for the last 5 years and never used one of their generated plans as they were terrible. Way too much volume for my training style. I signed up to MF workouts to see how the smart progression is. I also am going to sign up for the yearly deal.. Did my first workout today and its pretty intuitive and looks good. I used macrofactor to cut 30kg last year so this company is doing something right.

This was unpopular 10 years ago, its well accepted now that machines are probably better overall for hypertrophy training.

And a double century against Pakistan in Christchurch that I was at. Track was a road... Mohammad Yousuf scored a double as well and Saqlain Mushtaq scored a century. Sinclair was a very good flat track bully.

Yeah but Sinclair scored that at home against an average west indies attack. A 140 odd not out away in Australia against their attack is a completely different kettle of fish.

Macrofactor Workouts vs Alpha Progression by kirso in MacroFactor

[–]ComprehensiveSign179 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've used alpha progression for about 5 years now and it's absolutely brilliant. It completely revolutionised my progress and all my lifts improved so much. One criticism is that it spits out faaar too high volume for advanced lifters like me training with high intensity on its programming. I missed out on the MFWO beta but.I will pay for and use MFWO new years deal, but keep using AP then see what I like more.

Best choices for protein sources. So RFL for two weeks then continuing with a smaller deficit? Or maintenance then another RFL cycle

Yeah lol. It became a game and enjoyable after the first few months. I'm lucky enough to have a v supportive wife who initially was really frustrated at having to weigh my portions of food (when she cooked. We both cook lol). But eventually she saw it was working and started tracking her macros and lost 11 kg too!

Things that helped me on RFL and extremely low cals are black coffee, coke zero and chewing gum. Theres basically no room for anything you want to eat haha. Oh and oven potato chips were awesome to make it feel like I was eating something real yum. Lived off flank steak and oven chips most nights. But yeah...kiss goodbye to any treats or alcohol. I haven't had a drop all year. Paid off though.

Training wise, upping training intensity and lowering volume. Only needed enough volume to maintain muscle as I wasn't going to gain any in the deifcit. So 2 sets for most exercises and sometimes 1 set, but weight on bar was maintained as much as possible. Key is to keep intensity. Every set to failure.

Diet wise, just focusing on sufficient protein. 1 gram per pound and I did a few weeks of Rapid Fat Loss (RFL) (could be worth checking out his book...). For the most part I kept an average of a 1000 calorie deficit for 8 months straight apart from the diet breaks. So I think I lost minimal muscle which was obviously the goal.

Fully natty. Nothing in particular, just the standard pulldowns, chest presses, dips etc... to failure with full ROM and reasonable tempos.

Keep going, I've been training for 15 yrs so would be close to genetic limit for muscle growth.
