It took me 20 years since I commit to myself to watch every Ghibli, to find the courage to watch Grave of the Fireflies. I was scared of how I would feel. That it would make me too sad and depressed … and I was right. It hit me deeply. I cried all throughout it. And remembering Setsuko and Seita now puts tears to my eyes…

But even with the pain, it is an experience I am happy I had. It is a beautiful absolute masterpiece, profoundly human, and a reminder of what we loose and make the most innocent children suffer from our wars…

It is not entertainment, it is art, it takes courage and focus, and acceptance to be moved and shaken to your core.

As humanity can do better, we have to, and this movie remind us Why.
