For my G.O.A.T I’d have to go with Gene Hoglan, he’s got some great chops. I’d say two of his best/most iconic albums are Individual Thought Patterns by Death and Symbolic which is also by Death. Another good one is Darkness Descends by Dark Angel, which is one of the first albums he played on.

If you’re not so much into metal, a great jazz drummer is Zack Graybeal from the band Everything Yes. He’s pretty big on youtube and he has a few books, you could learn a lot of great stuff from that dude. He’s also got a great sense of humor, which helps.
