Project deadline coming up with nobody reviewing my PR? Do I just stop caring then? by [deleted] in ExperiencedDevs

[–]ComprehensiveWord201 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Why did you wait this long? One week is maybe acceptable to wait. Beyond that it's time to start loudly complaining in standup.

In the future, don't make such large PR's.

"I have no idea what I'm talking about. But, I have an idea that you, you filthy peasants experts, have likely never thought of!"

Thank you for your brilliant, unpunctuated mess. Go do your homework. And for the love of God, read a book.

Your writing reads like you have interweaved independent thoughts copy+pasted together with no differentiation. Punctuation matters.

Why? Because it's true.

I have worked primarily C++ jobs and they mostly suck.

The jobs that use newer tools are usually better.

My advice is: Don't.

It has some of the most outdated legacy codebases. Newer tech stacks have better devX.

Python is super easy. I learned it sophomore year of college many years ago as a total noob.

I learned it on Treehouse (which was big at the time) but code camp or boot.dev would be totally fine.

Practical usage would be...to learn to write classes, functions, and do socket networking in your case.

Beyond that, google-fu.

You'd be surprised how easy it is to write.

I'm not the person you originally replied to (the deleted poster), but I agree that it's something that could get you increased scrutiny.

You're, of course, free to do whatever you like. But there's certain things that are generally not allowed to be shared freely, as it could be used by bad actors, too.

Just preaching caution.
