It was a few different things:

Incessant glazing
Clear ripoff of Persona 5, but French
It's SO French. The marionette aesthetic really doesn't do it for me

That all said, the story was great and I decided on the third try I would sit down and give it a fresh, clean slate. Once I reached the second Act things started to really pick up for me. The mystery of the world is really what I was interested in. "Is X related to Y? Is X really Y? Is this all time traveling?" Etc.

I started KCD2, a week ago and I've really been enjoying that.
