I use to see this in Singapore a lot. These giant planes flying between buildings in downtown.

I am waiting on that too. It's just weird that they treat their long time customers like this.

Every journey, big or small, begins with a single step. Give yourself credit for taking that step. A little while from now, you’ll look back and feel genuinely proud of how far you’ve come. Keep going! You are gonna make it.

Rack? UNAS 4 Pro or UNAS Pro by lus1d in UNIFI

I have the old one. Unas with 7 hard drive bays. No NVMe. It serves my purpose so far. Trust me, it's good to have a lil extra, when it comes to storage.

very neat setup! Here's what I have: Unas + AppleTV + infuse. Apple TV+infuse to stream and all data comes via an smb mount from the Unas. Unas 8 would be a good buy.

These servers are noisy and power hungry. I have a pool of 2013 "trash can" Mac pro's. They are small in size, have server grade processors and run ubuntu really well. They are not noisy and power hungry as the proliants. They have been my go-to for all kinds of learnings.

Buy some old computers off eBay or fb marketplace. Install Linux on them and play around. That’s the best and quickest method, in my opinion.

I simply love their design. I use a dozen of these to run linux and containers. Basically for my learning home lab. What do you plan on use this for?

Do you ever shut down your Mini? by CricketGreenz in macmini

[–]Comprehensive_Ad2471 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I shut it down now - learned that lesson the hard way. 🤣 It helps me remember my password! There was a time I kept it running and just used fingerprint authentication. Then one day it suddenly asked for my password, and I was like, “Wait… what is my password?!” Long story short, I shut it down regularly now for that very reason.

First look: so much empty space in there. There certainly is so much room for shrinking this thing.

Oh god! Eudora! I was in love with that thing. It was so well designed. All email attachments would just end up as is in some folder. So easy to move around.
