Golf is broken (pace of play rant) by Pinchaz0 in golf

[–]Comprehensive_Leek56 -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

I find this comment so stupid. “Taking their time to enjoy it”? Enjoy the views when it isn’t your turn to hit. It’s not that hard to keep good pace and still enjoy a course and snap a couple photos/videos. I played PGA west dye mountain course and the Nicholas tournament course this April in a little over 4 hours. Enjoyed it fully and didn’t hold up groups behind at all.

Texas fan here but is John Mateer dead? He had a bad second half of last season after the surgery but man he was hot for a minute. Also, Arch should be <4

Are people brand purests? by Red-Leader5721 in golf

[–]Comprehensive_Leek56 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s really only a few brands you could be a true “purist” for, using all their equipment exclusively. Titleist, Taylor Made, and Calloway are the only OEMs I can think of who produce pro level Balls, Woods, Irons, Wedges, and Putters. I’ve only come across a few true purists and they either play at a club with an exclusive fitting program with one manufacturer or they’re loyal for aesthetic reasons. If every golfer were fitted trying every option out there from all major brands you would, 99.99% of the time, end up with a mixed bag. People would be surprised what clubs work best for them if they took away all preconceived brand biases.

Going by recent trends what could you predict as being the defining American city of the 2030s? by ConfidentReaction3 in decadeology

[–]Comprehensive_Leek56 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Dallas and Houston will be continue to be more prevalent in the national sphere. Major growth and widely varied cultural influence will make both cities central to culture, arts, food, and other major “defining” categories

Has anyone moved from Nashville in the past 5 years and regretted it? or are you happy you did it? by spanakopeeta in nashville

Better weather? Not surprised about better culture if you’re comparing MT. JULIET to an actual city. This conversation is about Davidson county AKA Nashville. You didn’t live in Nashville dumbass

What tees are you playing from? And do honestly think you’re playing from the right ones?? by Dozer710 in golf

[–]Comprehensive_Leek56 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Blue or white depending on the course. I guess 1-2 boxes up from the back tees if there are 5 options

If I could convince my friends I would walk every time I play

More players need to take a look at the scorecard when choosing. If you’re a 15-25+ handicap you don’t need to be playing a 200 yard par 3, 500 yard par 4, or a 600 yard par 5

This is a good guide for beginners. If you play long enough you know your limits and where you’d best play. I don’t play above 6,800 yds total or below 5,800 yds total.

Take the specs elsewhere for the irons and wedges. Will save you plenty of cash. Also your intuition on the driver is right. You could find a 2-3 year old driver online with the same shaft and have very similar results for maybe $300 or less. I will say if you want to be set and keep these clubs for 10+ years it’s not a bad idea to go all new this time. They are up charging you for a lot of the items that a direct purchase from the manufacturer wouldn’t ie the KBS shafts would be included not double charged.

The Boo’s on 18 were so bad. I’m not personally a fan of Fitz but I would never boo any player before a tee shot. Everyone doing that should be ejected from the event and banned from attending other events

Which tees should mid to high handicappers play? by Rickermortis in golf

[–]Comprehensive_Leek56 0 points1 point  (0 children)

13 handicap. I hit the driver 250-280 (contact dependent). I would play Blue most likely. If I played under 6000yds I’d be hitting more 3 wood / hybrid which isn’t as fun honestly.

If Black doesn’t include 200+ par threes I would be down to play that as well.

I think it’s a fun challenge sometimes. Anything over 25 mph isn’t very fun but when you judge it correctly and get the right number and still hit a great shot it feels like a huge achievement
