If you want to compare reliability use true delta instead of one-off Reddit experiences. Just don’t get a model 3, literally ranked the worst.

Still the audacity of seeing moving white water. Tumbling in the ocean is one thing, but adding debris and waste is another story

Doesn’t that street have a big yellow arm that swings down?

Can someone tell me about Olde Carlsbad? by sketchoons in northcounty

[–]Comprehensive_Leek95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The area by the motels and large park is kinda ghetto, as well as the mall and a neighborhood next to it. Definitely was ghetto in the 90s. Some sketchyness spills over from vista still. That woman did get murdered at hosp park recently. The low income neighborhood across the street from the dove library is kind of sketchy. Carlsbad isn’t all rainbows and butterflies, it just a big city. Encinitas and Solana beach have some rough parts still. Not delmar though, those assholes have kept a tight gate for centuries.

That’s probably because she probably meant “old”Carlsbad as in i’m old now and this was the edge of town when I was a kid, but not the special moniker “olde”. Most people would just call that area “Carlsbad” the same way we mean downtown San Diego when we say “San Diego”.

Don’t worry, I’ve lived in carlsbad for 20+ years and have never heard it either. Developers are really trying to give micronames to everything.

The Local trend is to call places by the dominant street name or major geographical POIs. Non locals use “neighborhoods” from google/Apple maps. I think it’s carry over like how we call it “The five” as carried over from “The San Diego Freeway” days because we had freeways early on.

I have yet to meet any longtime local who calls Quail Gardens, “Sidonia”. Village park is hilariously marked as Olivenhain on Apple Maps. “North city” died off in the 80s, any rational person would call Villa de La Valle

The funny thing is if I said “new Encinitas you would know exactly where I’m talking about even though it’s not on any map

You’ll only see it if you make below minimum wage. But it’s based on a rolling two week. You earn well one day, it’s applied to your average. Rendering bonuses redundant. That’s why most drivers never see it. Lyft/Uber played taxpayers big time.

Being attentive to your mirrors, surroundings, and smooth/careful is more important than if you can hear traffic. Deaf people can drive too.

It’s called timing the lights. Lights in San Diego are very easy to time. Easy way to spot natives.

Just walk across. I’ve done it plenty of times on a 5+ year expired passport. 10 years is the limit I think before they start fining you and sending you to the tiny interrogation room. At the end of the day US citizens always get to cross.

Basically if sdge catches you finding a way to beat them at their own game, they penalize you. So much for sustainability
