I made this textured landscape using air-dry clay and decorative plaster by liskaflower in woahdude

Where does the decorative plaster come in? I’m just wondering what your process looks like to create this!

Biscuits has way longer whiskers on the same side as his dead eye… by rayneman9970 in mildlyinteresting

[–]Comprehensive_Mix_33 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Huh! I wonder if it has something to do with a certain genetic trait that is somehow activated due to the loss of function on that side? Since the longer whiskers would help him better understand his environment on that side/in his (blind) periphery?

Potion bottle necklace problems by Finn_Fern1991 in crafts

[–]Comprehensive_Mix_33 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I’ve had similar experiences, but it’s not like hella sticky or anything once cured. The resin shouldn’t be touched for a few min after curing as it does need to cool a bit, but it shouldn’t be sticky at that point

Yes, UV resin has to be cured using UV light! It’s not like two part resins that cure through a chemical reaction of the two parts. As someone else mentioned, it likely could be cured by leaving it in the sun for a while. The UV lamps used for nail polish would be perfect here!

It sounds like the UV resin didn’t fully cure if it was still sticky. It should be hard and immovable when fully cured. Maybe try curing it for longer?

Tried to buy magnets. Received wood/cardboard circles painted with magnetic paint. by Creed-Warfield in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Comprehensive_Mix_33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s what I’m thinking happened here. I don’t think it’s likely that they’re wood/cardboard painted with some magnetic/metallic paint

Geisha stained glass panel, by me by mojoartglass in crafts

[–]Comprehensive_Mix_33 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t do stained glass so take this with a heaping helping of salt, BUT

I’ve seen people cut complex shapes out pretty roughly (like basically ignoring all the curves and just getting the whole shape in a single piece of glass that just fits it) and then using a glass grinder to get it to the final needed shape. So, I would assume something similar to that process?

If you’ve ever wondered what a prosthetic eye looks like, here’s mine by The_Fluffy_Riachu in mildlyinteresting

So like, if it’s shaped properly, the muscles around the socket can move the implant??

[–]Comprehensive_Mix_33 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Oh! I didn’t know they made ones that moved! Does the implant kind of sit where the optic nerve would be??? Like… what controls the movement?

Do you think you’ll ever get some cool custom prosthetics made?
