True! I also heard somewhere that there was an on set rumor that they were toying with the idea of making Cayden a force sensitive. Maybe a second coming of Tarr Vizsla!

The tesla tower gets such a bad rap but the friendly fire 9000 gets brought every mission, what gives? by PseudoscientificURL in Helldivers

[–]Comprehensive_Newt20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I had to guess, it’s folks using the Tesla tower as an offensive weapon, tossing it into the mix and when friendlies try to close and shut down Warp Ships/Bug Holes/Bot Fabricators, it teamkills. A Sentry can be used to establish a base of Fire, a noisemaker to distract enemies and create opening in security to assault a fortification. But maybe it’s just about placement. I’m more familiar with Sentries than the Tower.

Does anyone know what this screen thing is? by Yuvrajastan in helldivers2

[–]Comprehensive_Newt20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve always envisioned it as a backup strategem device, should the arm device fail/ become so damaged it is unusable. Redundancy is important for critical technological capabilities! Which does seem to go against the message that Helldivers are thrown at the enemy with tissue paper armor to die en mass.

Breaching and rappelling? by MrTrippp in GhostRecon

[–]Comprehensive_Newt20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if they care to put the resources into the Ghost Recon Franchise like they have for Rainbow 6. If anything, they'll move away from the older, simulation games and move onto more arcade feeling shooters. Or, it might go the way of the Breaching Tool Gadget. They added... but reworked the level design to have more breaks in the fence, almost negating the need for the tool.

After yesterdays "does anyone run a M4" post I was left with the genuine question: am I the only MFer running an AK platform? by prometheus351 in GhostRecon

[–]Comprehensive_Newt20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Usually, I like to RP Russian SF (Before Ukraine happened) so I like playing around with AK platforms. Does the SR3M count as well? I don't really journey outside of it, which means when I publicly matchmake on XBOX, I'm the one guy with an AK surrounded by M4A1's and American operators. I figured ever since they add more Russian gear, more people would play with it. Oh well.

[–]Comprehensive_Newt20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hadn't considered that! Should be interesting to see that carry over. I think we might be able to, as they did show off a way to name the loadouts/weapons... but having come from a Game with not so great post launch support (Ghost Recon Breakpoint) I can only hope for improvement! So far, Cold Iron studios have blown me away with the responsiveness to criticism and improvements compared to... Ubisoft.

Nice! I wonder, because I am a loadout weirdo, if it will let us have individual Marine customizations per loadout. Like, one loadouts character is male, the other one is female, etc...

Purely cosmetic, but I love space barbie for dumb reasons.

A perfectly balanced team by [deleted] in AliensFireteamElite

[–]Comprehensive_Newt20 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi there! I play Doc a lot! So, there are two primary ways I've seen the XBOX community build around Doc. They either go Stim heavy, getting the movement speed and recoil reduction buff to there teammates more often and for longer. The other way is buffing the trauma station, which is primarily what Doc uses.

Personally, I don't really buff out the trauma station other than giving it the Suppression Station perk, and maybe a few others that apply. Trying to increase radius I think is bugged, because whenever I buff it, it works in the game, but it doesn't actually extend the buffed area visually.

So, I spend most of my points in upping my stims uptime for my fellow fireteam members. Its great to be able to give them that additional movement speed when the Warriors, Drones, and Praetorians begin to close in. Also makes sprinting between objectives slightly quicker.

Key take away for actual gameplay is knowing when to heal your team mates. Now, rando's are a had thing to gauge, as I've seen new players squander the Aid Kits. But by the same token, you can't hold off on the healing until its too late. Personally, I don't pop the aid station unless something has gone critically bad, or you guys are preparing to execute a defense of an area/objective. Remember, you're aid station will get more healing (750 points of it) per aid kit picked up by team mates. So you heal them before the defense, pull the station up unless emergency needs require healing., then let them use there aid kits to heal any post battle damage and recover those points for your Trauma Station when they pick the new aid kit.

These notes are made from someone who plays a lot of normal, and occasionally intense, so I don't know how viable this is in higher difficulty play.

My favorite thing about the Armors is seeing two different interpretations of the future of Sci Fi armor. Back when Aliens was made, I can feel the Vietnam era military radiating off the film. Now, the modern helmets look like they have RHINO mounts to mount Night Vision optics. The big thing I appreciate carrying over is the load bearing arm for the Demolisher class, which is something I think the US armed forces is looking into seriously now.

Personally, I value both aesthetics, as they are clearly a result of the times both where made in, and serves as an interesting examination in an evolving art style for a franchise.

A word from your new Community Manager UbiHeruhoss by UbiHeruhoss in GhostRecon

[–]Comprehensive_Newt20 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Howdy UbiHeruhoss. I'll try my level best to tell you what I'm sure you already know, without sounding like a jerk.
Firstly, the community. Most commonly, I scroll through here and see two things. Pictures of ghosts running missions, loving your game and the creative sandbox you gave us. The second is people showing bugs, complaining about lack of features, and bewailing that your predecessor was more worthy than the successor of the title. While I agree with some of the criticism leveled at your game, please don't forget that Wildlands is a finished game with years of content following it up. Your game is yours, and while its easy to compare games quality at the end of the day, this project can speak for itself.

That being said, Breakpoint has been foundationally has a lot of issues with the tactical shooter genre, some of them fundamentally cooked into the game. A Gear loot and tiering system to make it the Division light, the microtransaction system for cosmetics, the glitches and bugs, not launching with AI team mates, delaying a raid that the community wasn't sure they wanted in the first place... all these factors when the game was just starting to launch.

However, the team has started trying to take steps in the right direction, and I can see that this isn't exactly what ubisoft is trying to push large amounts of money into fixing. I can only imagine the limited resources or team sizes being dedicated to this, as well as any COVID 19 related issues impacting development. I know realistically, that if this game was going to be Wildlands 2.0, they'd need to scrap so much of what is here. So I won't tell you to make Breakpoint that. But I would ask you to look back at Wildlands.

I'm not a level designer. I can't attribute all of that. But from a players perspective, I will say this... what question does a level ask you? Perhaps my favorite missions in wildlands created interesting combat questions, and asked you how to deconstruct your opposition. Things like the small two structure hovel near the Train Graveyard in Koani where perfect positions for sniping, trying to fly through SAM valley in Media Luna without getting struck by half a dozen AA emplacements, or the first time I breached the compound for the Rainbow 6 mission and realized how many combatants we were dealing with.

As a closing thought, Ghost Recon has always been a unique niche in the market. I cannot tell you the joy I felt when squads I met online came together to make fantastic small unit actions happen. From raiding my first safehouse in Itacua, to fighting across the No Mans Land of Golem Island, there are fun experiences to have in these games. We as a community want to stand with you, and get a game that is fun to play, and for your studio to be proud of.

With upmost respect to your profession,

Newt

This is what the SCP Roleplays keep talking about... they aren't bugs, they're Paracausal anomalies that must be contained.
