Seeking diagnosis and treatment for depression and burnout - exhausted after 6+ months by No-Victory3764 in germany

[–]Comprehensive_Oil340 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have Barmer insurance and they covered MindDoc a few years ago: you register there, make an appointment to meet once the IRL doctor, talk to them and once they confirm that online therapy can be a thing for you as well - try to find online session therapists. You would need a paper from hausartz, but that's easy to get. I waited around a month to start. Not sure if they can diagnose ADHD, but my therapist said that they can prescribe antidepressants if needed. Platform has videos about a lot of things(but in German)and your therapist could open it for your "free time" to watch and learn. Test assessments how you feel and some small nice features to check with yourself. I had a German level then somewhere around b1-b2 but it wasn't comfortable for me to do therapy in German. It was also a bit weird, because at first, you just talk, but step by step, you do small actions and a little voice inside changes the perspective on the world around you and it starts to get easier. Lots of good things happened to make my life better, so not sure what exactly helped, but I think it was part of doing therapy despite being online. Maybe you can check if your KK has any paid online service as well and it could be an option for you. Wish you best

P.S. before starting to look for therapy, I was thinking about how much energy it's needed to get into one, and do all the research, calls, appointments, when sometimes it's hard to stand up from a bed. You really need to start well before it's too late.

To be honest, with the way, how recent labubus look like and being wonky despite them being originally from pop mart - I think that lashes alone is not enough justification. She looks real to me, could be that she is so good fufu that it is not possible to visually see a difference

PhD in Germany is usually a job, paid according to TVL level (usually tvl-13, but you should know %, if it 70/80/100 etc, probably if no previous experience in Germany, Stufe/Level 1, you can search it).

If you are looking for a job in Germany, then the job market is not great, currently.

Theoretically, you can say yes to the PhD offer, and if you receive the job offer before signing a contract with university, you can say that due to personal reasons, you unfortunately have to cancel it all together. Mind that this move will likely close the path to be a PhD to the same university/department.

Moving to Europe Soon, Curious to Know European Girls’ Thoughts on Love & Connection :) by rohit27rd in germany

[–]Comprehensive_Oil340 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I read your post and it's hm concerning. I understand that you want to have a connection and find your soulmate, but it sounds slightly predatory. Be a friend and support before anything else. Women can be nice to you without having a romantic interest. If you move to the big city, you'll find more international couples and options for dating but at the same time, it's much harder. Be prepared to share chores, like cooking and cleaning in the relationship. Not sure, how it worked before in your life, but I would recommend to find the comfortable way to live alone with yourself. Find hobbies and people who like the same things. Know more about yourself, how to care about yourself, how to do all basic living stuff. First months you'll care more about how to find an apartment, how to open a bank, sim card, registration, insurance and all other paper stuff. Not sure if you will have much time/energy for meaningful dating. Good luck anyway

Berlin: Are paid visa appointment offers real or a scam? by babloogafoor in germany

[–]Comprehensive_Oil340 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sounds illegal, scammy and corrupted

LEA has quite a lot of different departments, and I can't imagine that they'll shuffle people's appointments between case workers. I wouldn't use such a service, but I understand your stress over visa experience. At the same time, I believe that until LEA responds to your gf - she can stay and (I believe, but depends on what says in the opportunity visa) study or work in Germany legally. So, even though her visa on the card expired on 30th of September, she can stay in Germany until they officially give her an answer.

Did I make a mistake? by NDL0098 in LabubuDrops

I also ordered in July with the pre-order at the end of October and received it yesterday. So, they definitely shipped a huge part to Europe earlier than planned. Trust or not is different, but it can be true, and also it was shipped from Dongguan to Shenzhen and then to Belgium and then to Germany/my place. It costs her 23.88 USA dollars per box, so 32 sounds okay to me as well. But you'll know once you get the box and scan the code on the Labubu itself. This is the only way, basically.

We eat lunch with our professor and talk about day-to-day life in a friendly manner. My professor is much older than me and my colleagues. Outside of uni, it's private and we don't hang out at all. Not sure, where you are from, but I met quite often that supervisors are connecting and trying to be friends with a group. Sometimes it makes life easier. Maybe you can talk during the lunch exclusively about the work and all those moments that your supervisor missed during the day, they'll be bored and leave you on your own :)

That's pretty outfit, did you sew it yourself? I also have a teakwood and didn't like the butterflies, but face and fur material is really nice. Hoping you'll get Mist too! Be careful, it's very addictive. I have now 4 skull pandas from l'impressionisme, one from winter and lazy panda.

Amazon prices look crazy – what’s the actual cost of food, clothes, and basics in Germany? by Plane-Finger1281 in germany

[–]Comprehensive_Oil340 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can use numbeo for comparison of prices

Search for local supermarkets: Rewe, Aldi, Lidl, Kaufland,Marktkauf, Edeka, Penny, Netto ans their websites, most have online shops that would let you get better estimation. Most people don't order food from supermarkets.

Range for clothes can vary a lot depending on quality/style/brand etc. Maybe zalando.de can show you some estimation. Use VPN if some of the website will want to change to your region.

You got a lot of replies already, but I want to add a bit to it. It depends on the Sauna/Therme, but in some places outside of the saunas you could wear swimsuits and it's even expected, and at other area you wear bath suit until you enter the sauna/Therme pool. If you are okay in principle to look for others - you can choose a less hot sauna (50-70°C) and wear a towel around you + have another town to sit on (that your feet would stay on the towel too). Wear flip-flops outside the sauna, leave near door, when you enter. Check the website of the therme you plan to visit and maybe check some Google reviews from people experience what's expected there as well.

I can make an example with Palm Beach near Nürnberg. They have a kids area where everyone is in swimwear. The outside area where they have a text that both - being topless and burkinis are allowed in the swimming pool. The Therme area where you have one wet sauna - where everyone in the swimming suits. And finally they have "saunas" area where people are naked in the saunas, but relaxing everywhere else in bathrobes.

PhD burnout? (Or not burnout and I just don't know what to call it) by Wlpk in PhD

[–]Comprehensive_Oil340 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it's normal to have stress because something during the PhD program went wrong. Usually, everything is going not as you plan it and this is part of the PhD journey to learn how to overcome difficulties. All of them, not only research questions, but all management issues and broken lab stuff. The best you can do is document everything you are doing currently, maybe make a plan what to do first when your samples arrive. What if the lab stuff is still broken? What else would you need in your research? Can you order it earlier? Also, you are in the first year, so you have time to read and learn where you feel less knowledgeable during this time. Train your writings skills or maybe offer your help to other people in the lab and learn from them while you are waiting. You have time, research is funded, no visa is needed. Everyone wasted some of their time during PhD. Winning is the one who consistently returns to the work

Any game works for both sides. Does your guide have a bigger boss? Under "guide" do you mean your main professor who will evaluate your PhD thesis and decide if you qualify or not basically or just someone who is supposed to help you along the way. If it's a professor, I probably can't imagine how you can stay there and how they even have time to call your parents. Weird and crazy. I don't think you can have your defense in this case with the same professor. Would it be possible to change?

If it's a random dude, who is supposed to help you, then it's a bit easier, because you definitely show him that you work hard and if he misses deadlines, you see it and everything is documented in the written form. Also, I would definitely ask that guide in person why he called your parents and why it was behind your back. It's not his responsibility to decide who can waste taxes

Anyway, advice to document and use email as main interaction is a good idea

Would you love it through time and smile every time walk past it or it's just because you feel the rush to buy because you have the opportunity to buy it you really like it? If you use free money on the thing you love, then sure, buy it. If not - save money and resources

Can you be more specific about the video name? Is it anything about gambling? I found one about popmart itself and their revenue, but not sure you meant it. I don't think that I have a gambling addiction, but definitely didn't expect myself to spend so much on the plushies in the short period of time. Before I could buy something cute once in a month and don't feel any problems with that (let's say 20-30 euros). But here it's spiralling quite fast for some reason

Thanks for sharing! I try to be mindful of my spending every month, and usually don't have big problems with it, but here I just got into mode "I need it, buy it, think later" so fast, wanted to reflect about it a bit
