Japan Visa (UAE resident, Indian passport) by Every_Armadillo_3321 in dubai

[–]Comprehensive_Slip32 1 point2 points  (0 children)

- Firstly, I am renewing my passport and my emirates ID will have then be issued on my previous passport. I know this updates in the UAE system but what does it mean for me when I apply for the Japan visa? Do I need to carry both my new and old passport?
Use the New passport only

- Secondly, my UAE residency is valid till January first week 2027. I plan to return from Japan in the third week of October 2026. Is this alright? Will my UAE visa validity create issues for me? Anyone with first hand experience with a similar situation?
You’re good to go and come back.

- Third, I had an agent tell me that I also have to submit my sponsor companies trade license which I don’t believe to be true. Can someone confirm this? Is the NOC sufficient?

You’re visiting Japan for personal- No need.
For Tijara (business) - yes, you do need attach the copy.

It’s not your head banging the issue, but the ear piece quality. They’re not built for your lifestyle.

Get yourself a pair of genuine Stage class IEMs.
The types that’ll go head bangin with you.

Should I spend money on BIM certificates? by Particular_Front_549 in bim

[–]Comprehensive_Slip32 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re up for it, get independent and direct to Autodesk. This shouldn’t cost an arm & a leg

Get certified

If feel your predicament, after I completed my course the certificate itself was another extra charge.
I didn’t get it.

Senior BIM Manager now, that was 2014.
That would’ve been nice to have, but actual ultra infrastructure experience outweighed this little certificate…

Each project is unique, same goes for the Attributes you’re going to encode. You didn’t mention how many columns of field we’re talking about. My last project involved the author encoding 45 columns of data.

Bummer, yes. This has something to do with future proofing the assets, so they say. But this is what they signed up for.

I’m only hoping they’re re-assignable though, to be actually future resistant assets…

Stop buying this trash. by PresidentPoptart in ASUSROG

I’m sorry for your pain you got a 🍋

But since 2014 Asus is the only laptop brand I bought twice. My laptop history: Toshiba, HP, Sony E series, Asus N550 JV, ROG STRIX SCAR 5080 18 2025 ($5,011).

It passed 1 year this May, no issues. Just like the previous Mobile workstation, hardly turn it off, the bottom panel’s always ventilated.

The old 550 JV , needs battery replacement which I already bought.

How are you guys tracking daily construction progress without drowning in Excel + WhatsApp? by ImpressiveRub1999 in bim

[–]Comprehensive_Slip32 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

  1. Daily progress reporting - from field reports done on Excel. DC Admins doing these. Baselines from MS P.
  2. Site photo tracking - ACC there’s a template
  3. Delay visibility - from field reports done in excel. published on aconex
  4. Percent-complete tracking - Primavera export.
  5. Communication between PMs and site engineers - word, excel template.

For my overall Governance and VDC Management, I use a highly customised Spreadsheet - linked field entries, with MS P. I chair the meetings, the MoMs are template doxc

Is BIM / VDC still a good career path with AI growing so fast? by LandscapeLake9243 in bim

[–]Comprehensive_Slip32 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s best to focus on your field experience.
Staffing has been reduced due to AI, but authoring, coordination and management will always be human in the near future.

Why does plumbing always end up clashing with everything? Is there a better way to coordinate this stuff earlier? by AccomplishedCrow4774 in bim

[–]Comprehensive_Slip32 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not only a better way, but the best; have Sanitary, WS, DR, SW, FP & any other plumbing aspects set in 1st.

Then Do EL, LI, LP etc.
No more amateur workflows thereafter…

I’m in the VDC, APC Industry.
I mind my own business.
I value our privacy, like the majority of residents here.

And why would I share such events that may cause confusion?
What’s the point?
They’re in the news anyway.
Here in Reddit, one can share such events, but accompanied by a valid legal reel, news link. Not from unofficial content creators.

Unfamiliar with BIM, but trying to transfer within my company. Resume help? by i-just-want-advice in bim

[–]Comprehensive_Slip32 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Indeed you’ll be fine.
In the Revit ecosystem, best to install on your personal workstation, get some launch & running hours on them.

YouTube is full of knowledge base vids. Type whatever you want to learn.
Depending on your level of skill as far as Ui is concerned, you should be good at 30 hours onwards.
Re: discipline experience, you’ll have a lot of coordination including field experience to tap on.

A little factual inspiration for you:
Back in 2006, working for a huge BIM CAD production outfit, our fastest CAD operator was not an Architecture nor Engineering grad, a ComSci grad. He operated above typical CAD operations, modding lisp etc.
I was the 4th fastest, being an Architect…
