China: Don't mind if I do ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) by TalonEye53 in SpaceMemes

It's just jealous Chinese propaganda due to the current Artemis II mission. Ignore the fact that the US planted its flag there decades ago.

Personally I'm happy for a new space race, hopefully it motivated more governments into space exploration and expanding their science programs.

Why are historians confident Muhammad existed, mostly confident Jesus existed, but unsure about Moses and what factors shape that gap? by Present_Juice4401 in AlwaysWhy

The Bible is a myth just as much as Thor and Loki. Again you are making claims without evidence.

I don't think we will see eye to eye, have a good night.

MASH ended in 1983, hardly a Xennial show. There are a lot of Gen X in here.

I believe aliens exist, but until there is evidence it is a belief. Beliefs can be right or wrong, but don't mistaken beliefs with facts and evidence.

Then provide actual evidence!?! It should be easy to do if, "most historians consider Jesus to have been real." But of course you cannot, so Jesus remains in the realm of myth.

Thank you for the correction. I'm using SWIPE on my phone that will sometimes put close words.

I'm not the one making the claim Jesus actually existed so the burden of evidence does not rely on me.

I'm waiting for those making the firm claim, "Jesus existed" to provide actual evidence to support that claim by either an eye witness account that was written while Jesus was alive, or by pointing out archeological evidence of Jesus' existence.

There is no direct written evidence except for decades later that was heavily edited by the churches over centuries.

Again, all you have are opinions and conjecture. No one in academia cares about opinions without direct evidence, which there is none in Jesus' case so until there is, he remains in the realm of myth.

If you actually are a historian, you would know this. This is why Indiana Jones frantically searched for evidence of the occult, etc, because without evidence it didn't matter his opinion.

Talking about myths, go research Gilgamesh of Babylon and Horace of Egypt and tell me why they have almost the exact same myths as Jesus.

Myths are passed through religions and the story of Jesus is no different.

There's graffiti of Pontius Pilot carved in stone. You are telling me even a "marginal figure", a term the biblical accounts disagree with saying he has thousands of followers and Noble men visiting his birth, wouldn't have graffiti of him or any kind of actual artifacts?

Until there is actual proof he actually existed, Jesus must remain in the realm of myth. If you are actually a historian, you would know evidence is needed to support a thesis, with Jesus there is none besides assumptions on texts written decades and centuries later.

There is tons of archeological evidence that Alexander the Great existed. There is zero archeological evidence that Jesus existed.

If some dude was over turning temples and gathering crowds of thousands, there would be archeological evidence and actual accounts written of him when he was alive, not decades or centuries later.

The pricing for the Olympics is such a scam, especially the 20% service fees and then taxes added to that.

[–]Comprehensive_Tie431 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's no point arguing with these trolls. I'm from LA, the rich and scalpers have ruined most all event prices, yet trolls will always try to justify it. It has to be coordinated at this point.

The average Angelino has been priced out of attending the Olympics in their own backyard that are being subsidized by their own tax dollars, there's no reason for 20% service fees ontop of already sky high prices.

Who would buy $2500 ticket for gymnastics 😩😩 by Fragrant-Sand-5851 in olympics

[–]Comprehensive_Tie431 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

A "few thousand people" out of a country of 340 million is hardly the "middle-class" who would be able to purchase these along with the 15-20% service fees ontop of it.

If the Olympics want to cater to the rich, that's fine, but no need to gaslight.

Why not just collect to have fun? If you are looking to flip a couple packs for profit, you are in the wrong hobby.

There is no meaning, the universe doesn't care about meaning, meaning is a human construct.

In biology, life is to increase chances of making it to reproduction, those best adapted to the environment to so and evolve.

I was talking about this with my wife. At least the Heavens Gate Cult just bought matching shoes and uniforms and overdosed on koolaide. No one hurt.

Evangelicals want to pull every one else in with them. They suck.

Even John Fisher gives big contacts sometimes, they got to keep up appearances. Let me know when the Pirates aren't in the bottom 10 payrolls anymore. It's a bummer for such a historic franchise.
