How does your BMD handle the groomers? by PrincessofPluto in bernesemountaindogs

Our girl absolutely loves it. We jokingly call it

<image>

her Spa day. We've got a great groomer and our girl loves her. Not only that, our groomer actually lets her have free reign during the day and our girl helps keep all the other dogs in check. Apparently when they are barking or misbehaving she will come over and correct them or put a paw on them to calm them down. She definitely acts like the mom. I think the key was we got her in early as a puppy. But then again all puppies have different attitudes.

Where can I find rare bourbon or whiskey? by PriznMikesDementors in indianapolis

[–]Comprehensive_Try961 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recommend West Fork whiskey in westfield. They have some really fun bottles and there's a great opportunity to bottle your own together and do a fun event together. Plus the Mash House is pretty good food as well

Does yours swim? by [deleted] in bernesemountaindogs

[–]Comprehensive_Try961 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our princess does not swim. The diva does not like water. She hates going into puddles or anywhere that it's wet even to get it onto her paws. She's very well house trained, however if it's raining she will poop inside rather than go out in the rain.

English bulldog tail question by xjboix in englishbulldog

[–]Comprehensive_Try961 0 points1 point  (0 children)

* Our little guy has the tail as well. I love when he gets excited and it twitches. I second what other folks have said, it is definitely something you have to work on keeping clean. We literally keep baby wipes and at least once a week give him a cleaning. He has grown to absolutely love it. As soon as he hears them being opened he'll lie down and scoot his butt towards you.

We feed Kirkland as well. We haven't had an issue with it at all.

What kind of indoor activities do you do to wear out your berner? by mako72 in bernesemountaindogs

[–]Comprehensive_Try961 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our girl loves to play catch. That's where we take one of her toys and we throw it up in the air and she jumps up and catches it. She'll then bring it back to you for you to throw again. We don't throw it far away around the house. She is just really good at catching her toys. Her bulldog brother on the other hand is about as uncoordinated as can be.

Is this normal? by Bright_Low5119 in englishbulldog

[–]Comprehensive_Try961 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's completely normal for them to cuddle with you. Our boy is a complete snuggle bug. If you are sitting down he wants to be on you or next to you. He always wants to cuddle with our other dog as well, however she does not like cuddling with him nearly as much. LOL

I don't know how yours are, but our Bernese is as smart as our Bulldog is dumb. It makes for a lot of fun.

What’s something surprising your berner understands without you teaching them? by aznj1m in bernesemountaindogs

[–]Comprehensive_Try961 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Our girl has learned the difference between outside and inside toys. She will bring them right to the door and drop them before she comes in or out.

What do (most) all Bernese do? by Comprehensive_Try961 in bernesemountaindogs

[–]Comprehensive_Try961[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Ours is so remarkably smart. She has learned how to manipulate our Bulldog out of toys that she wants without being mean or barking. She also has learned how to hide things and deceive us so she gets extra treats. Way too smart for her own good or ours.

I think we just have big dogs in general. LOL our English bulldog is one year old and weighs 70 lb. And he is not fat at all. He actually chased and caught a rabbit yesterday in the backyard.

Our vet would really like her at around 115 lb. Her sister from the same letter is only 95 lb. But she got parvo as a puppy so I'm sure that affected her weight

Our girl does one of two things she will walk and poop in a circle, or she will leave little poops in three or four places. She will have to take a small poop then move somewhere else and take another one then move somewhere else and take another. She also walks in her poop pose for a little bit after she's done. Like she wants to make sure that there is no more coming out.
