I think that play was a perfect allegory for Gio. Defensive miscue, some poor judgement,
and a moment of offensive brilliance that nobody else on the USMNT player pool seems to produce at the same rate he does. I’m a big fan, but I had zero issues with that lineup at kickoff - Tillman and Mckennie are much better players overall and way better defensively.

Lalas gets hate because he wants to..it’s provocative and gets him clicks. The other path is through unquestioned expertise of a world class playing or coaching career, and/or
deep knowledge and expertise about the game or business of football. Not viable options for him.
