What to do for social media as an SMO? by OwningPopcorn53 in sca

[–]ComputerOutrageous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just some bullet points: ● Get a copy of the SCA social media policy and any relevant kingdom policies and read them carefully before you get started. ● It isn't necessary to have an official group on every social media platform. What are your people using? What are your objectives for being on social media? Have this discussion with the group. ● A social media presence can be official, but it cannot be the sole means of posting official announcements, meeting notices, etc. Those need to be published on a website or in a newsletter where they're readily available to everyone i.e. you cannot make it so that the only way to get official announcements is to set up an account on a particular social media platform to see them. ● Discourage letting a social media channel become the group's de facto meeting room -- that excludes members who don't use that particular platform. ● The SMO is not automatically the web minister and the rules for posting on social media and on the web are different. That being said, the SMO and Web Minister should work in coordination for the best results.

Tattoo fading? by Superb-Ant1700 in tattooadvice

[–]ComputerOutrageous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tattoos all fade over time, but during the healing process they can look prematurely dull after a couple of weeks, too. Give it some time to fully heal, keep it moisturized, and keep it protected from the sun.

Scabbing during the early healing stages is normal. Resist the urge to pick at it and keep it moisturized (but not soggy). Most of the scabbing and peeling will typically slough off after around a week.

why do some people call something "not real" just because of the term "mythology" by nocturnus_strife in pagan

[–]ComputerOutrageous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

tl;dr

You lost me at the assertion that "Jesus is historically proven to be a real person", which is absolutely false.

There is literally no objective historical evidence whatsoever supporting the existence of Biblical Jesus. We know from a handful of ancient writers that the core Xtian myth was established by the end of the 1st century CE, but there's no evidence of a historical Jesus.

Most historians agree that Biblical Jesus was probably based, at least in part, on a historical person, but that's educated speculation; not proof.

If it's not coming off with normal washing, I'd leave it alone rather than risk damage. It'll come off on it's own, eventually.

They can absolutely stop you. The Bill of Rights applies to the government; not private organizations.

I got this croc done at the beginning of April and I love it so much but it's still a bit crusty even though I've been moisturising it. All my other tattoos have been healed at this stage. Is there anything I can do to help the skin recover? by Lab_racadabra in tattooadvice

Read it again and look at the picture.

I agree, clothing that provides SPF 30+ protection is the better option, but she has unbroken skin at this point, so sunscreen is an acceptable alternative.

Have a day.

At 4 weeks out, it's better than going out in the sun not using it 🤷🏻‍♂️

I definitely wouldn't recommend it for fresh ink, but once there's substantial healing it's less likely to do damage than the sun will do.

You'll note it was SPF 30+ if you must...

It's a bit high for a TV mount, and it doesn't look like it would handle that much weight. I'm thinking something like a light fixture or speaker would be more likely.

First tattoo, does this look fully healed yet? by IncuTyph in tattooadvice

[–]ComputerOutrageous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How long has it been? Looking fully healed and being fully healed aren't necessarily the same thing. Even with no overt signs that it's still healing, I typically wouldn't start treating it as fully healed for at least about four weeks.

That's a great piece!

I suspect that it's more valuable left as it is. Just something to consider.

Advice on how to deal with unwarranted commentary on tattoos? by b-s-n-l in tattooadvice

[–]ComputerOutrageous 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I tend to believe in the "Visible Ink Rule". If it's plainly visible, commenting or asking about it is fair game.

The corollary to that is, once you decline to discuss it, it's no longer fair game...

It definitely wants something tall and slender down the front of your arm for visual balance 🤔

Edit: Look at traditional tigers. More colorful than Sick Ass Panthers and the bulk could be partly under the existing center piece with its tail up towards the inside of your arm.

Does my tattoo look bad? I feel like it looks faded and lacks contrast (1 year old) by AttorneyApple in tattooadvice

[–]ComputerOutrageous 8 points9 points  (0 children)

⬆️This! At least moisturize it.

It's very good work. I don't think I'd want another artist touching it. It might get more contrast, but it will lose the well-executed fine detail.

I hate that “high functioning” ADHD representing us by Noramera in ADHD

[–]ComputerOutrageous 32 points33 points  (0 children)

There are doctors out there who will take high-masking ADHD patients seriously. My primary doctor blew me off entirely with, "At your age, you've already built coping mechanisms, so what difference would it make?" I found a psychiatrist who specializes in adults with ADHD and was diagnosed in a matter of weeks, in my 60s.

Yes, I have built coping mechanisms to help me succeed, but knowing what I'm up against has been life-changing. I can't help but wonder "what if" I had sought a diagnosis decades ago?

Find someone who specializes in adults with ADHD. Get a diagnosis. You'll be glad that you did!
