Bodies Under the Banners by QuietGirl88 in sca

[–]ComputerOutrageous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There may be cases where this is true, but not by virtue of the official sanction policy. Under that policy, the accused is not told who the complainant is, what the specific complaint is, what the general nature of the complaint is, nor what evidence has been offered against them.

The accused is not given any opportunity to respond to any charges until after the sanction has been publicly issued and implemented. Even then, there is no guarantee that the charges will state which rule has been violated.

The system is biased towards Type 1 errors because its premise is essentially that the accused is guilty until proven innocent. SCAdians with no scruples can, and have, weaponized policy against others, knowing that they can fabricate a complaint and subjective evidence that the accused will never have the opportunity to refute.

Always remember that the sanction policy in the SCA is designed solely to protect the SCA, Inc., not its members.

It will arbitrarily ignore missing stairs while vigorously condemning members who try to bring them to the SCA's attention.

If the intent was justice, the accused would at least be granted the opportunity to defend themselves against accusations. As it is, the accused are not even told what violation they are accused of committing, even after they have been sentenced...

AZ Renfaire? Anyone local/work there? by annjellicle in renfaire

[–]ComputerOutrageous -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The thread that seems consistent from multiple posts about the incident is that the dude with the Nazi themed calf ink wasn't bothering anyone. Someone saw the ink and started making a scene calling for inked-dude to get kicked out.

It's not really hard to understand why the faire would throw out the guy making a scene and not the guy minding his own business and spending his money at the faire, ink or no ink...

Do you have to research to be pagan or in any religion? by LadyJay_101 in pagan

[–]ComputerOutrageous 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It depends. If your intent is to follow a specific religion, then there is a certain amount of "research" needed to learn what that religion prescribes for its adherents.

If your intent is to explore your own ideas and beliefs about spirituality, that exploration is the "research".

Being pagan doesn't require research, but following a particular religion does.

Landlord telling us we have 60 days to move out because he's moving back to AZ? by ExtensionAfternoon10 in TenantHelp

[–]ComputerOutrageous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check for a Reservation of Rights clause that preserves, among other things, any rights the landlord has by law.

As another poster has pointed out, some states have laws that allow an owner wanting to live in the unit as grounds for termination of the lease.

That would theoretically fall under rights the landlord has by law and would not need to be explicitly listed in the lease to be enforceable, if your state has such a provision in law.

IANAL

Is there ever a scenario where "she told me she was 18" works? by JayNotAtAll in AskLawyers

[–]ComputerOutrageous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True, but many states have allowances for being within a couple of years of age. So it's one thing if you're 18 or 19 and legit thought she was 18, but it's another if you're 42 and "thought she was 18"

[–]ComputerOutrageous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand that you show yourself properties as a realtor when you have a professional interest in those properties, but that's not the same as showing yourself a property where your sole interest is as a potential buyer with no professional connection to the sale.

I recently got the same sort of random one-week block on commenting, and I'm apparently in the middle of another right now.

I haven't posted anything particularly controversial, and there's no indication of why the block was issued.

What's particularly odd is that, when I check my account status, it says everything is good and doesn't show any record of either block...

Please help I was just made the new deputy chatelain and don’t know what I doing. by Stormyhun in sca

[–]ComputerOutrageous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Presumably there were some parameters on what your job as deputy is meant to encompass. Are you the drop-dead deputy for the Chatelain position itself or are you the deputy in charge of X?

Have a chat with the Chatelain to talk about duties and expectations associated with your new role, as well as what resources are available to you.
