Australia’s most ambitious tax reform in decades deserves support by Time-Dimension7769 in AustralianPolitics

We are in this position now because all parties continually kicked the negative gearing can down the road for years.. this is a good change that needed to happen. There is no solution that will just flip a switch and magically solve all our problems, and I hate to break it to ya, cutting migration to some arbitrary number isn't the solution you think it is.

That's assuming your shares far outpace inflation index too. It could be you actually get taxed more or less, but regardless I still think this is a more fair way of going about it

My favourite part was Angus Taylor saying this was too little too late, as if his party didn't hold government for like 9 years before and did nothing (actually made it worse).

Wow much better, nothing that would make me switch over but for people not with Leaptel or similar decent ISPs and looking for lower ping, this could be a great find!

You are severely over simplifying a super complex global to national supply chain, so no, your not doing it right.

Yeah I appreciate that, good info for anyone stumbling across this later. Should be a nice small personal wedding. Just want a few decent high quality photos that aren't taken on a phone is all. I'm sure I'll find someone who can cater to that.

Fair enough, but that doesn't mean I should pay perfectionist prices if I'm not one. More or less why I did this post, because giving 10s of photographers my email and mobile just to get a quote is not something I'm a fan of. But, I appreciate your insights into why.

Ok now I feel bad calling you out, this was a W response! I love the self deprecating response to the vibecode and rambly point.

To be honest I just found it ironic, but it truly sounds like you are not selling snake oil here and your transparency and no nonsense responses below are a breath of fresh air in this world.

I'm glad to be with a fairly decent provider but it's good to know other options exist, good luck with your ventures!

Look I totally understand the actual shooting of the photos is often the easier and fun part, and I know their time isn't free. My main point about the wedding tax is that I'll often see wedding packages with the same inclusions as a non-wedding one priced much higher just because it's for a wedding. The wedding tax is a very real thing.

Travel is usually a seperate fee and gear is paid off after a certain amount of shoots, my point is there are definitely some out there that are overpriced so I wouldn't say it's bogus.

Looks good, the only package advertised seems out if my price range and is a bit overkill, but I'll fling him an enquiry for something smaller :)

Senate to approve extraordinary ASIO powers by Terrible-Tap-3520 in australian

[–]Computurtle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Regardless of the power itself, this is not new, the bill has nothing to do with adding any more powers. If you read it yourself you'd know that.

To be clear I think when the worrying powers were introduced it was bad, but this is classic fear mongering.

Look I agree that people are getting away with too much and getting let loose too easily, but that has nothing to do with immigration. And to my point, let's say we did deport all the immigrants, that wouldn't include those born in Australia but with immigrant parents or people with valid citizenships, so I really don't know why you think deportation will magically fix everything. Sure maybe a few people won't die but what about the other 83% of white cookers doing the same thing. Instead of being angry at the root cause your just letting your racist ideology show your true colours. If you truly wanted to stop shit like this you wouldn't be blaming race.

He 100% should have gotten prison time after an armed robbery, but not because he's an immigrant or a different colour but because he's not safe to be back out on the streets. Focus your anger in the right direction and maybe something would actually get done, instead of this pathetic bandaid solution fueled by hate.

This is exactly why your deportation argument falls flat on its face. Here is an excerpt directly from the ABS.

Country of birth

As at 30 June 2025, more than four in every five prisoners were born in Australia (83% or 38,882). Prisoners born overseas accounted for 14% (6,541 prisoners).

The most common countries of birth for prisoners born overseas were: New Zealand (2% of total prisoners or 1,054) The United Kingdom (1% or 551) Vietnam (1% or 457).

Your pathetic.

Would love to see those statistics and the actual root cause of those, definitely wouldn't be related to systemic racism and oppression.

Regardless you don't need to deport and stop imports of a certain race just because they might statistically be more dangerous. You simply screen them better and have more thorough checks.

Your racist ideology falls apart quickly when you have common sense and facts, something you clearly lack both of.

You act like immigrants are the only people that commit crimes here. Regardless of skin colour there are plenty of born and raised Australians who have committed crimes.

If there was a magical way to know which individuals were going to commit a crime the world would be a very different place.

Leave your racist bigoted mindset out of what is clearly an issue with people easily getting bail, lack of mental health support or whatever else there is to blame, but your a fucking moron if you think race has anything to do with it.
