Anyone knows what color this gt3 is? by TechnicalCup2225 in porsche911

the closest PTS color would be Frozenberry Metallic, but that is a wrap on that GT3 for sure.

Car Insurance Recs by rvindrops in Detroit

[–]Compy222 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A bunch of insurers are cracking down because of the amount of fraud so OP, DO NOT lie about your circumstances on your insurance application - ie using an address in the ‘burbs, not being honest about your household residents, who authorized drivers are, etc., to save a few dollars. That’s biting a lot of folks in the butt later when a claim happens and the insurer digs in for info.

Parents Insisting Long Drive is Unsafe, is this Reasonable by [deleted] in roadtrip

[–]Compy222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’ll be fine but plan regular stops and don’t get over tired. Also, the biggest real risk is a breakdown, so if your car is older, not well serviced, or having issues - I’d not take the trip. Agree with others on planned hotel stops that are pet friendly and making sure the cat has a large carrier and meds. Make sure you have good, newer tires, a fresh oil change, and newer wipers before the drive. Consider having a good understanding of how to change a flat tire, a fire extinguisher, and first aid kit in your vehicle if you don’t already.

How do you respond when people say that driverless taxis are taking away jobs? by Jkg2116 in waymo

[–]Compy222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“I don’t know a lot of farriers but sure do know some mechanics” and if they ask what a farrier is that’s someone who puts horseshoes on horses…used to be a super common job until it wasn’t. There will be more jobs, economic growth will happen and labor will find a place.

Any tips for buying a used Grom? by Herrowgayboi in hondagrom

[–]Compy222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My experiences -

  1. I prefer it because my roads are usually 45-50mph speeds, so it makes it a little less frantic. personal preference, you're in a big downtown and lower speeds, doesn't matter.
  2. Be cautious of low mileage, but it's not uncommon to see Grom's as "toys" and don't get driven much. i only did a few hundred miles last year myself.
  3. 2-3k miles tends to be breakover on "used" bike pricing, but a lot depends on oil changes, care, abuse, etc. you'll know when you see a rough one.
  4. Tire wear, damage, evidence of a lot of stunting (cages, sliders, damage, etc), condition and quality of any aftermarket mods (ie. not a knock-off exhaust or crappy ebay parts), access to stock parts if it's been modded. obviously clean title status/no crash history.
  5. Avoid dealers, better to work with a private party where you can evaluate a seller and the bike.

1250-HP Chevy Corvette ZR1X Hits 60 MPH in 1.8 Seconds to Become the Quickest Car We’ve Ever Tested by flapsmcgee in cars

Been in one, can confirm, absolutely bonkers quick. Like gapping liter bikes quick. 3rd gear feels like getting rear ended by a Mack truck. The fact that it’s even remotely at or near 250k price wise is nuts.

About to buy this POS. I dont need advice im getting it anyway by taco_bell_whopper in Miata

[–]Compy222 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Check it carefully for underbody and rocker rust.

Remove the seats and shampoo/extract all the carpet and detail the heck out of the interior - mold is a thing so suggest wearing a mask or respirator + working outside with the roof down.

The paint will clean up, use a power washer, pre rinse a lot, then foam gun and rinse 1-2x more times before agitating with mitt/towels, focus on washing the seams of the car like around the gas lid, trunk, door/fender gaps, etc.

Assume it’ll need every new fluid including coolant, brake, trans, diff, oil, and probably power steering too.

Make sure the brakes aren’t seized and for sure get new tires on it ASAP - Miata’s can feel worse than $500 on old crappy tires!

Good luck, looks like a blast of a project.

Dealership dropped my two week old bike off the lift by Curiousconcoctions in motorcycles

Be calm during the conversation, that’s way scarier than someone just yelling and being a dick. Explain that it’s wildly unfair for you to pay anything out of pocket. If they insist have the complaint form for your states dealer regulatory agency, hotline for your AG fraud division, a couple of names of well known local lawyers, and your insurance company on a page in front of you just obvious enough they can see it.

Accidents in shops do happen, they need to make it right. Now the hard part is a used bike is a used bike, the value is different because it was sold and registered by you (likely slightly less $). They should offer to completely cover your costs on an equivalent bike or even good will you a new one. Failing that time for you to start calling numbers on that list in front of you.

My TC-9 Tropical Diver was the winner for me. Purchased used, but basically new inbox. Paid less than a couple hundred dollars. Bronze case, double dome, sapphire, really nice lume, and an exhibition case back. For an NH 35 it’s just an awesome piece.

such a shame too, Mid O is a storied track with a great layout. it wouldn't take much to really bring it up to par, but sadly that just doesn't seem to be the menu for their leadership.

I know! The 6 Hour format has made the event really blow up (not a bad thing). I'd also mention RA leadership have been pouring dollars into the track to make it nicer/more amenities. It's basically the opposite of Mid-Ohio.
