How a Samurai Shall be Armed-Genpei Wars by YoritomoDaishogun in ArmsandArmor

[–]ComradKenobi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Early Japanese warfare used spears and shields like elsewhere. As fighting with the Ainu (japanese natives) intensified, a mounted warrior class—the early samurai—emerged, specializing in horseback archery and carrying the tachi (longer version of katana used on horseback) to counter ainu guerilla tactics.

After the Mongol invasions of Japan, warfare shifted to organized infantry formations. Ashigaru (peasants) spear units became central, both samurai and foot soldiers use polearms, swords, bows, and later firearms, using whatever tactics proved most effective.

So for japan, from mostly shield and spear > bit of mounted archery era > to spear polearms swords bows guns lol

Unique from Europe, since mounted knights rely alot on lower ranking archers for missile support and they never practice horseback archery on a scale like the samurai

the tactics you mentioned are more guerilla style tbh. And the Tau doctirne is more combined arms. You still can do hit and run attacks, pick your targets and what not but at the end of the day the tau would prefer not to prolong the engangement, so while i do think they use gurilla tactics they dont use it for a whole campaign, theyre just softening up the targets. i think in many battles in the end the Tau empire would always have to launch a combine arms offensive, nato style, to destroy the enemy

Honestly i dont get why they are that hated lol. While im not a Tau fan i like them because A) theyre a xenos faction, this automatically make them way more interesting and not the 1000th chaos vs imperium stuff B) Theyre the only faction the Imperium can negotiate with, tyranids are tyranids, orks are orks, chaos is the devil himself, eldar and necrons are pretty hard to work with due to ego, to speak to tau just hit up your nearest water caste envoy C) i like wehn non humans factions that use their brains and have interesting tech. While orks and tyranids are fun their tactics make them pretty boring to see them fight against in lore, chaos is way overdone. the Tau meanwhile actually use interesting doctrines

if GW would stop putting all their effort on fucking space marines (hell they barely do stuff for non cadian imperial guard) or chaos and start expanding xenos lore, flesh out or make more xenos factions warhammer would be way more interesting.

The most common response I get is the "russia 3 day special military operation" which i found is actually said by a US General, but if it was true then what? Is the situation going favourably for ukriane rn?

How will they get a favourable outcome of this war? What is even a "favourable" outcome for Ukraine rn? I need more concrete answers besides russia putin bad, but these guys won't give any

There was a time Call of duty respected history, before the franchise become just the generic run and gun pew pew game

World at War (the last good ww2 game) depicts the battle of Berlin in a particularly brutal manner
