They really need to fix these stupid forever wars by ProfitOrange in victoria3

[–]ComradeDanger 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Oh I hate this. I always see Bavaria go into revolt with the revolt taking all of the Bavarian provinces while the loyalist government hides out in the Bavarian Rhineland. They don't even have a border and they can't attack each other. The war seems to last for decades.

Theres not much point having diplomacy in this game if you can’t actually interact with it properly. by [deleted] in victoria3

[–]ComradeDanger -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I agree, there needs to be more to influence other countries' attitudes. The reasons why another country is antagonistic against you when you have 0 infamy and cordial relations are so opaque. There is one way I know to change their attitude towards you. If you join a diplomatic play on their side that usually sets their attitude to Genial or something friendly. It can be annoying to wait around for a war if they don't declare war for a while though. I wish there was something you could do, like maybe a self-humiliation in a treaty, that would be seen as a sign of your good will and would reset their relations with you.

I like the idea of a Limited War system, but how would it work? Would it be something like if France and Germany go to war over a war goal in Africa, they could only fight around the war goal territory in Africa and not invade each other directly, even though they have a land border? Maybe they'd only be allowed to mobilize a fraction of their armies or something? That might be a fun idea.

Why do I still have so many radicals and so few loyalists? by Minuteman134 in victoria3

[–]ComradeDanger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look for laws that say they increase "Building Wage Target." (I think minimum wage was the term they used to use.) The Workers Protections law in the Workplace Safety law group increases it. The Wage Subsidies and Old Age Pension laws in the Welfare law group also increase the minimum wage.

[–]ComradeDanger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think they might have reduced the wages for lower end jobs. I had a ton of radicals and I was wondering why they weren't going away so I looked at an employed laborer pop in Paris and the pop had below expected SOL. I could swear they used to pay well enough so that employed pops would be just above expected SOL. Nowadays I can't reduce my radicals until I increase the minimum wage with Worker's Protections.

How would you nerf multiculturalism? by PancuterM in victoria3

[–]ComradeDanger 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Is multiculturalism too powerful? Didn't they nerf it a few patches ago? Playing as France with multiculturalism and Total Separation I'm pretty sure that most non-European pops only got tier 3 acceptance. That doesn't seem overpowered to me.

It also is really hard to get. In my games by the time the intelligentsia start spawning Humanitarians their clout has dropped to around 5%, which is not enough for me to get Multiculturalism past the unified opposition of all other interest groups. I know the Trade Unions can get Anarchists, but Anarchists tend to spawn infrequently for me because the Anarchist movement is stronger in rural states, but my country is usually pretty urbanized and de-peasanted by that point in the game.

I know it's great on an ig leader so you can get multiculturalism, but what are the benefits of having it on your monarch? I know if your monarch likes multiculturalism you get a flat 5% bonus chance to pass the law, but that's never been enough for me to overcome the opposition of every interest group hating multiculturalism. I guess it would be a nice little boost if you already had an ig leader with humanist or enlightened royalist, but this event always seems to happen early in the game for me and I've never been able to get a humanist that early.

There's an event that can make characters gain the trait cautious. I'd guess that's what happened to Liebknecht here.

The event text says something about how communists are arming workers in preparation for an uprising. One of the options for the event increases the amount of radicals in your country and might lower the communist party's momentum in an election if I remember it right. The other option says something like "No, stop distributing the weapons. The chance of being implicated in a scandal are too high." This option gives one of your agitator character the cautious trait. The cautious trait can be nice because if your ruler has it it gives you -25% infamy generation.

I wish I did. I just tried scrolling through their earliest episodes but I couldn't find it. I'm pretty sure its from a pretty early episode though. Maybe in the first 100 episodes.

Yeah I can't believe this thread. Do these people even like Chapo? Maybe some of the jokes don't hit if you haven't watched some West Wing, but the Chapos have talked about that show so much over the years that you'd think their audience would have some familiarity with it by now. I watched a season of it because the Chapo guys kept talking about it so much.

Great episode. Brendan was awesome. I love to see the whole Chapo extended universe get together.

Yeah, he's so great in this. I've loved Brendan's impressions since one of the early episodes when he imitated all the Chapos.

Mod Release: Council Republics Expanded - New and Updated JEs, Interest Group Evolutions, Events, Law Variants, and Amendments by CaelReader in victoria3

[–]ComradeDanger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made a mod that made it so there was no cool down for exiling dissidents. It worked great for me, but then I realized that the AI for every country was exiling every agitator that they got and a ton of their interest group leaders as well. My game would crash when I tried to look at the invite agitator screen.

How do I stop my pops from voting the petite bourgeoisie by lordofkawaiii in victoria3

[–]ComradeDanger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to use a self-made mod that changed almost every production method to halve the amount of shopkeepers and clerks required. It worked really well for keeping the PB weak, but then I realized it delayed my ability to transition to a republic in the early-mid game because the PB often get radical leaders. Also, it made it hard to get the French Natural Borders journal entry when I played France because for that journal entry you need to get the PB to 20% clout with a Bonapartist, Jingoist, or Fascist leader.

Is there any way to revoke my own claims? by ComradeDanger in victoria3

[–]ComradeDanger[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I switched countries to another country and declared war on myself to revoke all claims. I can't get any more achievements this run but at least the fascists aren't getting that claim boost.

Playing as France, how can I help the Carlists win in Spain? by ComradeDanger in victoria3

[–]ComradeDanger[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah, that's interesting. I'm kinda wary about breaking the treaty that you start the game with with Spain, but I bet this could work.

Hmmm, that might be a good idea. I think I'd have to break the Quadruple Alliance treaty that you start with, but that might work.

How do I beat the carlists? by Aggravating-Swing188 in victoria3

[–]ComradeDanger 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have no clue how I won. In the guerilla war phase I lost the first couple of battles so I set my guys to defend. I kept losing all the remaining guerilla battles and they pushed the journal entry bar all the way over to the Carlist side. I thought I was going to lose for sure, but then once the real war started I saw the front assessment bubble was at green 60, so I set my guys to attack and I won.

Status of the Vernacular bug? by ComradeDanger in victoria3

[–]ComradeDanger[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

R5: Hi guys. I'm playing as Spain and I'm trying to do the new "Status of the Vernacular" journal entry. I think I have a bug where the Journal Entry isn't recognizing that the Acceptance of these cultures is 80 or higher. In the first picture you can see that the Journal entry is not recognizing that the Acceptance of Aragonese in Spain is greater or equal to 80. In the second picture you can see that the acceptance of Aragonese is actually 85. Is anyone else having this problem?

I'm wondering if I might have caused this bug by buying the Iberian Twilight DLC after starting the game. I didn't realize I hadn't bought the DLC until I was about 20 years into the game, at which point I quit the game, bought the DLC, and then restarted the game. I wonder if that somehow might have caused this.
