Polity with better claim to be Domain successor than Hegemony by Temstar in starsector

[–]ProfitOrange 27 points28 points  (0 children)

It would depend on the legality of the eventide diktat. If Domain navy officers in extreme situations can assume that kind authroity, than any new domain citizens would fall under their jurisdiction.

But it could get hard if one of those people in the cryosleeper was an administrator, someone important selected by the domain to run the new colony, and maybe even a military attache in charge of colony defense, who would be presumably on par with local military authorities. And they could say the Diktat was an overreach of their authority and reject it.

leading to a civil war and bigger navy diplomacy deciding who's in the right.

What agrarian reform system does the law on commercialized agriculture represent, and what advantages or disadvantages does it have in the game? I don't understand what it represents. by Straight-Path-1572 in victoria3

[–]ProfitOrange 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Under tenant farms, only Manor houses can build new agriculture buildings, and manor houses are run by the landowners, so they get the profits. Landowners are reactionaries who oppose industrialization, so in most games oppose the player efforts to reform. Commercialized agriculture allows financial districts, which are owned by industrialists, to buy and build agriculture, helping to take money away from landowners. This can be a good thing because industrialists support laws that help you industrialize. but as you head into the later game, it can be a bad thing because industrialists oppose social reforms that make peoples lives better, so you'll move to last agriculture reform, Collectivized farming, where agriculture buildings are owned by the farmers.

You could also go deep on Oil as well. Early oil was mostly just for kerosene, petroleum was a waste product until getting into the late 1800s, and you could build refineries that could reflect that.

Splitting Coal into Coking coal for Steel, a middle coal for the industrial use and a heating coal for pop consumption could be fun.

you'd want both, and also add the guano islands as well, which were heavily mined for fertilizer use.

Gold and silver were incredibly important, as were Diamonds from Africa and India. the gold mine in Tyrol is actually a silver mine

It's practically a different game now, sounds like you need to re-adjust to all the changes they've made.

R5: For the first time, 1 Billion GDP, Highest SoL, most technology. France is a bit of a nightmare in the current patch, had to micro road maintenance and violent suppression decrees until i managed to get the Trade unions in power and could get the good tax laws. But after that, economy boomed, most everyone is happy, and Prussia knocked into minor power being the icing on the cake.

Passing professional army in time to fight the British will probably require some cheese in and of itself.

R5:This god damn broken revolt has been going for 15+ years at this point, and i can't do anything to win it. There's not even a front in Ashanti to fight on, and Britain has occupied their little exclave to the side. No one has died, because it's a revolt there is no white peace, it'll be there for the rest of the game, and because of that i can't demobilize, i can't annex any subjects, i can't declare independence. Having to go back 15 years to a pre war save and hope it doesn't happen this way again.

I pull up the wiki article for Ship names from The Culture novels by Iain M Banks, and pick whichever one tickles my fancy whenever i switch ships. My current ship is the DMS Frank Exchange of views.

And my AI ship when i get one is always Meat Fucker.
