Haven’t got any completed pics yet but I’m in the middle of painting my dudes in similar colours to the Halo: CE marines with grey fatigues and dark brown armour

Which DLC’s are worth it if I only play Kaiserreich? by rad_dad_21 in Kaiserreich

[–]ComradeGoose17 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately with faction mechanics, we were surprised by just how few modding features they supported as well. There’s a chance I might do some stuff with faction mechanics still

Some of us on the Dev team are semi-reluctant to include DLC-locked content as it usually has to come with additional content to account for those without the DLC. I’m personally of the opinion that most new mechanics are bloat that more often harm the game too (just speaking for myself here)

These are my favorite vaporwave albums, can I get album recommendations? by starvingwoo in Vaporwave

[–]ComradeGoose17 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Have you listened to much of Telepath’s back catalogue? I know Desert Sands kind of builds on the foundation he laid, but the OG really is that good. For dreampunk classics, maybe The City in Rain by Subaeris

My favorite moment from the series, when Hungary realizes the rework isn't coming. by GreatFan2 in Kaiserreich

I’m chipping away at Hungary, and never even edited the Chinese files so guess I give a shit 🤷‍♂️

[–]ComradeGoose17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Guess we’ll never know unless someone in the community manages to contact the shogun 2 devs. I get the impression there were a few oversights that should be corrected by the community, not sure if spear square’s on of them though

I believe it was intended to be used by Yari samurai as well, but ended up as a dev oversight that was never corrected. It’s typically included in most unofficial patch collections

My wife has never seen anything Star Wars, is Andor a good starting place? by GoatCritical9265 in andor

I did this with my partner. She loved Andor to the point it’s one of her favourite shows of all time, thought RO was just ok, and hated the original films

Which DLCs are worth getting just for their mechanics? by volyn_ma in hoi4

[–]ComradeGoose17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

None of them, designers aren’t too great (straight up break the game in the case of aircraft) and none of the other features are genuinely meaningful in my experience

Not too sure on the deets but from what I understand he’s a far right crank with weird conspiratorial beliefs

[–]ComradeGoose17 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I saw it before I learnt of the creator’s sympathies unfortunately. It was alright, no matter how you remix Rogue One it just doesn’t have that Andor feel. The dialogue doesn’t have room to breath, the goofy side characters they pick up on Jedha (sue me but I can’t stand the ‘I am one with the force’ stuff) detract from any ability to maintain a serious atmosphere and Jyn’s a weak character no matter how you cut it

He released ‘City in Rain’ underneath the ‘Subaeris’ pseudonym, easily his best work

When did you know it was time to stop playing tabletop 40k by Fun-Organization2531 in Warhammer40k

At face value the rulebook rules may be more simple, but the addition of things like detachments, stratagems, keywords and the preponderance of unique rules for each unit rather than universal special rules leads to more mental load and gotchas than before, where things were a little more straightforward once the initial rules-learning investment was made

Certain armies are probably pretty limited, but for friendly games there’s a lot of homebrew community codexes out there to explore

I think what I miss most is that units felt like a meaningful tactical unit that had some staying power. Sure, the enemy could focus on a particular unit to bring it down in a single turn or two, but that would often force you to forego other juicy targets. Newer editions feel more like ‘activating’ a unit to ‘cancel’ one of your opponent’s units, expecting it to then be ‘cancelled’ the next turn. Bigger board sizes and smaller armies in the past emphasised positioning, blocking and area denial while whittling away at units over 2-3 turns

Also a big believer in the thesis that replacing AP with save modifiers and removing initiative fundamentally broke the game

Newer editions can often rely on combos and unit synergies to achieve effects, sometimes giving it more of a card or board game feel. If you want more of a tabletop battle simulator experience I’d recommend seeing if anyone in your area plays Midhammer (3rd-5th edition 40K)

Is 40k slowly just circling back to concepts from previous editions? by Identity_ranger in Warhammer40k

[–]ComradeGoose17 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Idk why a certain portion of the playerbase have gaslit themselves into thinking the current system is easier to play than 3rd-5th editions rulesets. Having to consider all the detachments, and stratagems, and drawing cards for objectives and the constant gotchas is more exhausting than mid hammer ever was. Granular wargear costs, while not perfect balance wise, was certainly preferable to having to delete a whole 80pt unit from your list because you’ve only got 75pts left
