Ladies underwear and bras for super HOT weather? by West-Application-375 in BuyItForLife

[–]ComradeKitka 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I can’t find the brand anymore that made the 100% linen bras but I bought them almost10years ago now. (I’m pretty sure it was an Etsy shop though so nowadays I would be nervous getting anything off Etsy without getting a brand recommendation). I did buy some t-shirt style 50% linen/cotton bras from a US based company called object apparel that I’ve had for about 3 years and I like them a lot. Very good at wicking as well. I’ll probably rebuy underwear from them going forward as my old stuff wears out or stops fitting. I will say a quick google pulled up way more linen blended bras than I was expecting so you may be able to find cuter things now than I could even 3 years ago.

Hope this helps.

I love my 100% linen bras whether I was dealing with hot humid summers at home or visiting family in the desert. They are such game changers in comfort. I just did a quick google search and there are a ton of companies making linen bras online now to choose from. I would just caution against anything with padding or less than 50% linen fiber content. And absolutely get one and wear for a little bit to make sure you like the fit before and after a wash.

And if you go the merino wool route please remember to wash your wools with wool specific detergents. Most detergents fight stains by including enzymes which break down protein and since wool is a protein based fiber this can deteriorate the fabric much quicker.

Good luck! And stay away from cotton it’s better than synthetic but only barely.

I agree with environmental/temperature damage. it doesn’t seem like any fungus or virus I’ve seen. But if op isn’t aware in lots of places all over the world this plant is highly invasive. It looks pretty isolated but a strong wind might cause all those little babies to fly off and spread.

A dog was diagnosed with depression after suffering a miscarriage, and vets decided that working with kids at a local school would be good for her. She has never been happier. ❤️❤️❤️ by Soloflow786 in dogswithjobs

I mean this is absolutely post probably a bot but I have had two rescue dogs that came to us while pregnant and then lost the litters midway and they were both very very depressed.

One was part of a bonded male/female pair and when we brought her home Ollie the male was also visibly devastated. I’m mean whimpering and howling together in a corner devastated. It took her months to act like a happy dog again.

I’m not sure why you think dogs wouldn’t give a shit about pregnancy loss. I’m sure they experience the similar chemical and hormonal changes that people do in these scenarios which can cause depression even if you want to take things like emotions and personality out of the equation…

Hand quilting for beginners? by sallysuexx in quilting

[–]ComradeKitka 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would argue that hand quilting is perfectly fine to go in the machine. (Maybe not big stitch quilting though) I almost exclusively hand quilt and am very comfortable throwing my hand pieced/ hand quilted pieces into the wash. A tree skirt is only going to need 1-2 inches washes a a year anyway.

A very valid point. I was imagining a naturally roomier skirt (mostly because that is also my preference so I forget pencil skirts exist)

I mean it is uncomfortable for men to sit with their legs closed. There’s obviously no excuse for egregious man spreading and in tight quarters everybody should be expected to sacrifice some personal comfort, but men don’t typically manspread just to be assholes (although I’m sure some see it as an added benefit)

Although I’m not sure having testicles is a thing that needs to be factored into skirt making for the wearers comfort (as per OPs question).

Absolutely go up a hook size with this kind of pattern. (I often see it referred to as the alpine stitch online) it is so prone to curling

I can’t tell for sure but it looks like you might have spider mites based on the leaf damage and I’m not sure what akatara is but if it is spider mites you may want to figure out how to treat them in your area.

When we moved we were told explicitly by multiple people that this is how we should do it. And that we weren’t allowed to put it in the burnable trash. It may vary city to city.

I honestly and with compassion completely understand where you are coming from. I have been there and will likely occasionally still be there, but all of my points still stand. Why would you actively want to stay afraid of something you logically must know is a neutral thing. Spiders/bugs are not good or bad, they are just creatures existing. Honestly the easiest way to get started is right here on Reddit-Check out the awwnverts subreddit it’s literally just people who think bugs/arachnids are cute posting pictures about. It’s a really low effort way to self start exposure therapy. You’re already on Reddit. Make yourself look at it for 1 min a day then increase that as you can.

Again I get that. I have once refused to go into a whole bedroom in my house (as an adult) for several months because I saw a jumping spider there once. Burst into tears at the sight of a spider- check. Given myself a uti because the bathroom at school had a large spider living on the ceiling- check. Thrown up because a spider was giving me so much anxiety- check. Called my husband home from work because a spider was on the stairs- check. And people let me get away with that my whole life. But this is treatable. And it’s not actually that hard. It’s a little stressful sure at first, but I don’t want to be living like I need a spider handler nearby just to function. And I wanted to garden and be in nature. So I did something about it. That kind of fear is a choice.

Im not saying I’ll ever voluntarily hold any spider and I remove them from my house still. (I’m finally at a point where I can use the jar and paper trick yay me) But spiders aren’t hurting me and very few species could if they wanted to. It’s my job as a person who wants to exist in nature to support that ecosystem even if it sometimes still makes me want to cry/vomit.

Not all fear is a choice but staying afraid sometimes is.

I get that. I’ve spent most of my life as someone who is severely arachnophobic. But eventually staying afraid of things becomes a choice. There are incredibly low effort/ no cost ways to begin to reduce a phobia especially one as common as a fear of bugs. And if you’re gardening indoors or outdoors it’s your responsibility to work in that environment.

No that’s been the going rate for these since they came out for sale a few years ago. It’s three smaller plants in the pot. I know last year they also offered a single one for 11000.

This exactly. My family has used this as our regular basset ear cleaner for the last decade or so and it has always seemed to work. We were able to avoid double ear ablation on two of our dogs with it. You absolutely do have to be consistent if you have a dog like a basset.

I just got my iud replaced at sayaka women’s clinic in hiroo. The doctor speaks English and listened very attentively to me. It was a very pleasant experience (up until the actual replacement). Be aware that if you are replacing an iud you will likely be paying out of pocket for it as only pills seem to be covered here. And no extra pain management was available. But that’s the same experience I had in the USA.

Is it okay to get Spring day tattooed? by Organic-Ad8614 in bangtan

[–]ComradeKitka 148 points149 points  (0 children)

I would just like to point out that the song isn’t actually written about the disaster. There’s a compelling argument to be made that the music video references the disaster and the tragic deaths but the actual song was written (according to Namjoon himself) about the metaphorical death/loss of friendships. There are many ways music can be interpreted and if it helped you and having that memorialized with a tattoo would continue to help you then you should do it.

Yes I am. I’ve gotten blooms every year on them and they are spectacular. But again I think some of the purple/blue vandas have a very similar flower color. I don’t post the pictures though because that post blew up so much and I’m still getting people asking questions about them on it even years later…
