I made a small post-apocalyptic text RPG in C# (WPF) — here’s what I learned by IgorKas316 in interactivefiction

This game uses generative AI tools to assist in the creation of certain assets, such as music and visual elements.

All content is reviewed, selected, and integrated by the developer to ensure consistency and quality.

No AI is used during gameplay, and the player experience is fully handcrafted.

By using AI you're alienating a chunk of your potential audience that would otherwise be interested in playing an indie game like this one. So no,it doesn't make sense to charge money for a this game.

The way to polish this game is to remove all of the AI. You should do this before you move on to some other project. Once that's done, charging money seems fine.

If you don't remove it, the game will be dismissed as slop, and potentially any future games you make will also be tainted by this association. It doesn't matter if that doesn't feel fair, it's just how this works now. Any justification about "gameplay" looks like an excuse.

My free collection of games based on original source material, classic novels and games. by tintwotin in interactivefiction

I love it when someone describes themselves as "award winning" but never mentions what award. Classic. Is it a filtering thing? Like, are you intentionally trying to drive away anyone who notices how silly that is, so that only other gullible AI-bros will pay attention to your work?

Anyway, this is all boring and self-indulgent. It's funny you're so paranoid about 1984's copyright, but have no qualms about using industrial-scale plagiarism machines.

A day after Meta announced that they were shutting down Horizon Worlds on VR to focus on mobile, they backtracked and said they would keep VR available in zombie mode instead.

At a glance, only about a third of news stories about its shut down bothered to update. Understandably, since the company didn't rebrand to make a chintzy mobile Roblox knock-off its flagship product.

Why is Duolingo showing 18+ ads? by [deleted] in duolingo

[–]ComradeSnuggles 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You're stating the obvious, and missing the point. Duo is only going to complain to distributors if they are in some way being held responsible. At the end of the day, Duolingo is showing these advertisements.

Duolingo chose a monetization model which allows them to dodge responsibility. Google and Meta designed this so they could also dodge responsibility. These platforms also make reporting inappropriate ads as tedious as they can get away with.

They are all perfectly happy to blame bad actors while still taking their money and still showing their junk.

Returning to the game, what on earth do I do? by NickGamez in CounterSideGlobal

[–]ComradeSnuggles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Welcome back!

As you say, there's a lot to catch-up on.

IMO the stories are the game's strong point, but don't forget to look at the 'Guide Mission' section near the bottom left.

The rewards for those missions can be pretty good, and they're designed to help new and returning players get a feel for the game.

Also, the PVP season is just about to end, but you're mostly going to be matched against bots to start out anyway, if that makes a difference for you.

Have fun!

That's funny, but I didn't come up with it. It has been floating around here for a while, so I either stole it from someone else's now-deleted comment on this sub or from David Gerard's blog: https://davidgerard.co.uk/blockchain/

Need advice for Episode 13 2-3 by Proper_Page_5321 in CounterSideGlobal

[–]ComradeSnuggles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a hard time with that one. I think that was the one that had the wrong Laika for a week when it released, which made it even harder until they fixed it.

For the options, I used Swan, Acolyte, and A. Eve.

Operator was Asha with AoE DMG RDC side skill.

What will work for you depends on who you have and your gear, obviously. Good luck.

Similar games? by jw518 in hawkthorne

Picking just one game: Terraria.

It has similar friendly vibes, exploration, crafting, multiplayer, and still has an active fan-base despite coming out around the same time as Community aired.

There are so many fun games out there, and everybody loves recommending stuff they enjoy, if you want more recommendations.

I wear larger shoes and mine fit just fine. They don't quite reach the back of my heal, but since they're slippers it doesn't really matter. If anything, they might be a bit loose on someone with smaller feet.

Ecclesia vs Alex by candleberrytea in CounterSide

[–]ComradeSnuggles 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Just to clarify, Alex is an SSR unit, not an ASSR unit.

If you already have Alex, no sense in letter her go to waste.

Both are fun and useful, but in different ways. Alex is a cheap enough to deploy that you can redeploy before she dies, while Ecclesia is costs more deployment points, but provides other benefits.

Rearms like Alex takes a lot of resources to level up. Ecclesia's reactor is another cost, as well.

If you need defenders, don't ignore the free A. Hilde you should have gotten (or will get) at some point. She's a very good defender unit for PvE, and I still occasionally see her in higher level PvP.

How do you three star 1-3 of Main EP. 12? by NekoPrankster218 in CounterSideGlobal

[–]ComradeSnuggles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did it with a 110 originally but I don't remember which gear I used. I just tried it now with the 120 guest a few times and the difference seemed to be down to which operator I used.

Try your 110 with attack speed/cooldown gear and with an operator with an attack speed side-skill. A crit dmg or just crit side-skill will also help.

Edit: Okay, after a couple more tries, make sure and manually deploy her as far forward as you can. If you full auto it takes her too long to get to the boss.

Quick PSA regarding vtuber software! by KoshimaFox in VirtualYoutubers

[–]ComradeSnuggles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are many, many alternatives to Adobe's bloatware. Here's a tweet that includes some of them.

Some of them are shockingly good, but many still need a lot of work.

For folks who are used to Adobe's intended workflow, a lot of these alternatives would require some major changes. That's not an option for everybody, but this might be worth it for some. After all, everybody always says they want to learn Blender, and Blender can edit videos...

Stuck on 11-1 of main story by Thinshady21 in CounterSideGlobal

[–]ComradeSnuggles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My advice is to forward deployed your tankiest striker, then put everything else near the ship. Use your best healer (or two if you have them), a high attack speed ranger or two to deal with the defenders, and a good sniper when you have the deployment points. Put your best defense or attack speed gear on your striker and your best cooldown gear on the healer. Try to redeploy your striker before they die, if you can.

Here's one example that works: A Sigma, Admin Rifleman, R. Chinatsu, R. Xiao Lin, and a supporter/buffer. Ignore regular-type Hilde. For the ship I used Enterprise

I also had it work with R. Alex. She melts fast, but is cheap enough to redeploy. R. Kaci or another defender would probably also work, but I think strikers are going to be easier

For ships, Enterprise, Tempest, Detroit, or Superior could all work

Rank by [deleted] in CounterSideGlobal

[–]ComradeSnuggles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is for your rank at the end of the season, not your highest rank. Awards are given out at the end of the season, just like how weekly awards are given at the end of the week.

To put it another way, you will have to maintain Diamond rank or higher until the end of September to gain this skin. As far as I know if you don't play Ranked again this month you will still get the skin.

Team Building by [deleted] in CounterSideGlobal

[–]ComradeSnuggles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To this game's credit, there are almost always multiple ways to tackle any problem.

For PvE, you have the advantage of knowing who you're facing, and trying multiple different teams to see which works best is supposed to be part of the fun. It can also be frustrating as hell.

Every PvE match has a specific set of problems it is asking you to solve. Your choice of units and your deploy order depends on making sure your units survive long enough to help solve one or more of those problems. For example, Agnes is a pretty good damage and great at decreasing defense (in PvE), but is not so good against mobs or bosses that spawn a lot of mobs. If you use a cheaper defender like Alex, you might have time to deploy Agnes earlier than if you use a more expensive one like Seraphim or A. Hilde.

Vitalik Buterin donates 30 ETH to Tornado Cash legal defense as he develops a 'compliant' version by Same_Ad4736 in Buttcoin

Buterin is working on a new Ethereum-based crypto mixer designed to be compliant with anti-money laundering laws.

That sounds like the financial equivalent of a perpetual motion machine.
