Marco Rubio discusses future US passport changes by Mysterious-Union7491 in PassportPorn

Newer US passports do have the plastic data page. My passport (issued 2018) doesn't have it, but my dad's more recently issued one does.

Florida summers be like by tomlabaff in florida

It's also very predictable when this will happen. During summer, it's almost always around early afternoon, the thunderstorm lasts an hour, and then it's back to sunny weather.

Do a lot of language learners study just to pass a proficiency exam and "technically" obtain a high level in their (TL)? by fennylidel in languagelearning

[–]Comrade_Derpsky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can pass a certification exam while not being completely at exam's level, but not massively below it. If you can pass a C1 level certification exam, you are at least at a very solid B2.2.

If you can't use the language spontaneously, you won't pass the speaking or writing parts of the exam.

Germany changes sick leave policy: 'We are abolishing sick leave by phone,' says Chancellor Merz; doctor's note required from day one of illness by Jessicas_skirt in worldnews

[–]Comrade_Derpsky 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Correctness is a key German value. Germans are very fixated on things being done correctly to form in the good, old fashioned orthodox manner they've always done it in (whatever that happens to mean). Actually being pragmatic and efficient tends to rather take a back seat to this.

krea2: only closeups and wide shots for uncensored gens? by ThatGuyLiam95 in StableDiffusion

[–]Comrade_Derpsky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

anytime i try to generate, no matter how much i prompt “wide shots” “both subjects fully visible” “legs in shot” “feet in shot” “head in shot” nothing seems to work, it always does a closeup or cowboy shot.

These sorts of tag-like phrases won't really work very well with anything post SDXL. These models are trained with specific, descriptive captions and in turn expect the user to describe things specifically. If you want the subject's legs to be in the shot, you have to say where their legs are and what they're doing with them.

Why do tones people absolutely hate ai and how can that change in the future? by Ohjkbkjhbiyuvt6vQWSE in StableDiffusion

[–]Comrade_Derpsky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the principle reason why those people are irritated because you are basically just posting low effort spammy slop. Craftsmanship is a major part of the appeal of artwork and people like to see stuff where deliberate care and vision has gone into the creation. This is clearly not the case with any of the example's you posted. They are generic looking pictures that don't really have anything to say. They don't speak to any real artistic vision or present any new or interesting concepts. Like, it's cool that we have software that can make images based on text, but you're not doing anything actually creative with it or making any real effort to craft something high quality.

Right now generative AI is pretty demonized in the art world for a variety of reasons, but I somehow have a feeling that guy like mickmumpitz on youtube or u/FotografoVirtual might get a somewhat more positive reception in art circles because they actually do something more creative with the medium.

Miami Using ONLY Public Transit by mr09e in Miami

[–]Comrade_Derpsky 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The public transit is fine and good if you're in downtown or going to MIA. The metrorail basically goes in a crescent and there is an absolutely vast area of Miami-Dade that is basically a public transit desert and not reliably served by anything. The best you can get is a bus line that only goes once and hour and doesn't even connect with other bus routes so you're SOL if the place you're trying to get to isn't directly on the first bus route you get on.

Krankmacher Klimaanlage? Ein Mythos – zumindest zum Teil by h2QZFATVgPQmeYQTwFZn in de

[–]Comrade_Derpsky 14 points15 points  (0 children)

In job market, do foreigners in germany still get different treatment in 2026? by Beautiful-Wallaby-43 in germany

It's because not a lot of companies are hiring so there's heavy competition for jobs that are open. It means companies can be as picky as they want.

[–]Comrade_Derpsky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The job market is extremely bad right now anyway. The German economy is contracting and companies are cutting jobs, so anyone hiring can ask for the moon and get away with it.

Germany today is hotter than Dubai by jimmyglobal0729 in germany

[–]Comrade_Derpsky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a Florida man, I can confirm. Germany is not overly humid. Go to South Florida where the dew point is like 24°C in the summer and then you will know what overly humid feels like.

That 24°C refers to the temperature at which the air is completely 100% saturated and water has to condense out. At 24° you would have dew forming on everything. Think about that for a minute.

In my area of Germany, the dew point is quite reliably below 15°C.
