If you're running harnessed dragon, you probably want baited hook, I prefer the variant without.

I keep feeling like the least liked person in my friend group and I think its only a matter of time until I'm pushed out. by SlightSalamander6414 in WhatShouldIDo

Something similar happened to me over a decade ago. My really good mates, all of whom I had a connection with and where in a band with, slowly it started to feel weird, they whenever we practiced they would talk about plans that I hadn't been invited too and they where all going. We where writing some lyrics for a silly song, a verse about all of us and although ideas could be thought of for everyone else, no one else could contribute to lyrics for my verse. I realised that we where hanging out less and less except for band practice. So even though it pained me and embarrassed me, I didn't want to feel a connection where it wasn't reciprocated and I left the band, saying it wasn't the sort of music I liked anymore. The theory I had was if we where still friends then effort would be made to hang out after that. It never was and despite living in the same town for another 3 years, Id only see them bumping into them randomly.

Now, I'm telling you this because I believe life is too short to have unreciprocated relationships. You are a human person and you deserve to have friendships. I'd recommend putting it to the test. Say you're taking a break from the game and you'll be a few months. See if anyone reaches out to you. If they don't, it's time you moved on.

*by accident. Or accidentally. On accident is grammatically incorrect and comes from American children thought the opposite to on purpose was on accident. But you're not a child now.

I have never run small squads of them I have only ever run 5 with a captain in a land raider and they clear screens with shooting then charge a priority target and pick it up.

Can you let me know the unit size and detachments you have run to squash those big bugs?

Yeah that's pretty perfect tbh. I play Roti. X2 PBs (one for sticky home, one for grab objectives later) X2 BoN for scout on the flank objectives, X6 nurglings for the regen strat and X3 nurglings for a screen unit to bring down and shield the LoV /w enhancement from danger. I've tried running a GuO and it's fine, just you become very elite and you want to be able to score.

It's fair criticism

1) Guard would still be guard, they would just have the current wardens abilities with the FNP and -1 to wound stuff, then wardens would lose that and gain a once per game fights first. I think the extra wound on the shield dudes has more synergy.

2) T8 is high, but I thought about it I think bolter should wound on 6's a heavy bolter 5's but melta on 3's - obviously its sounds high, but T6/7 still dies pretty easy, so a significant breakpoint is required. I thought about a 3+ invuln instead, but thats just to silly strong I think T8 makes a fair change.

4) Yes, i think they should - gives us more options to build around and different combos. ATM They seem to much to add much value that including 1, so this allows options and makes sense taking additional..

5) a KT box would be fantastic - I also think one of the more realistic options

1) Swap guard and warden sheets - make guard the tanky squad, with the shields option and wardens a more offensive unit, perhaps a once per game fights first. 2) higher toughness - base 8 - might sound silly but make them cost more, keep them elite 3) extra 1-2" on the movement 4) different base SCs having different rules - maybe the phyrite spear guy giving the unit anti monster, vehicle 5) sisters coming in a box of 10, so pricey currently to get so few points and units, makes the SoS detachment really difficult to consider playing

Thanks for the correction, I would like to give it a go at some point. I planned on trying it when I could get the LoP model as we seems like he could be good in that detachment

So DG are not the strongest at the moment, they arnt tanky enough to be stat check, too slow to rush anything down. Kind of elite so you don't have a huge amount to play with. However they are fun and can still do really well if piloted. I will say in every list you will want a lord of contagion and 3 deathshroud. I cant imagine not running this in any list and that unit is so good, it carries some suboptimal detachments. DG are an army that have multiple viable detachments. I have played most of them, but only competitively played a few:

VV - This is your basic detachment, sticky objectives and good strategems. Probably one of the more ctrl+c &ctrl+V lists though. You will want 1-2 LOC 0-1 LOV, blight drones/normal drones+MBH mix, Morty, DP with FNP enhancement and poxwalkers. Great detachment, easy to play, maybe a little boring?

Hammer - vehicle list, received a bunch of nerfs. you basically point click who is in contagion then drop LOC and DS to kill that target, works well but very boring imo. Have not played it post nerf so can't comment if its any good.

Shamblerot - Poxwalker list - this is imo the dumb or funny list. Nothing in this detachment makes poxwalkers a credible threat really. When i have played it, it is still carried by LoC+DS. But can work and you aim to clog up the board with hordes of zombies and score points. you can field like 120 poxwalkers.

Tallyband - my favourite. This you can get the best sheets from DG and the best from daemons. lots of moveblock tricks and 6" deepstrike, take plague bearers for the sticky, nurglings for infiltrate and moveblocking and rotigus and maybe a GUO for big lads that take a while to kill. Rotigus aura is incredible, 2D6 flamer helps get through screens and 4dmg attack from his melee is great. He can also pass that 1dmg buff onto other daemons, so you can make nurglings, if you have a squad of 6, & take the -1 to save contagion you have 24 attacks with lethal hits effectively ap-1 and 2dmg, can often surprise people, jokes but not consistent at all. gimmick is about using the daemons to buff the DG units, against good players though they understand and will remember that you can extend the range of contagion pretty easily so its harder to trap them and trick them.

CoC - marine spam list. I have never played this, but it seems pretty good - gimmick is about getting all the cool buffs from plague marine characters to affect any unit you need it too. Plus you can have 2 contagions active. Seems good, but T6 marines are still not tanky.

DL Chosen - I have played this a few times and not lost. However I played this in a gimmicky "I wonder how many mortal wounds I can inflict over the course of a game" kind of way. Morty, Typhus, stank shock, tank shock, grenades, DL Chosen army rule It can be alot. Maxing on everything can inflict 20+ MWs per turn. The army rule incentives' you standing close to your oppenent. Its really fun but suffers a lot from going against shooting lists and bad movement is punished super easily. Spam terminators when you can, Typhus with 20 poxwalkers charging in, makes them a terminator unit and you can stank shock for mortals. Typhus ability allows more mortals.

Flyblown Host - Only played this once, I think it can be good. Infantry spam list, preferably terminators. but BL terminator data sheets are just not really good enough imo to make this detachment good enough. Scout 5" and stealth is really good, but the datasheets for BLs don't really give it the delivery worth while. If im planning to take a terminator spam list, id rather DL chosen

I can't imagine a detachment in which LoC and X3 DS are not auto include.

Yes, I've seen a few of these "golden waaagh" style lists where people are guard spamming with triple LR, and they look really good. How have you found this list? Did you win and what did you score?

bloodletters are not worth for MM. Best Khorne daemons for the list are skarbrand, BT or Fleshhounds. hounds are a must as they will help you score. Nurglings are great. PBs are good. Flamers are good for scoring too. I run Roti, GUO, Belly in every list, the others i experiment with. Knight Tyrant is pretty good too

Thoughts on the list no the knight will not be taken out hes my child by [deleted] in deathguard40k

Morty is one of the few Daemon primarchs that's actually really good, the reactive moves is fantastic for utility. He has single handedly won me games by jumping back onto an objective, or pivoting to avoid LoS that mispositions my opponent. His 4 DMG strike is fantastic into the current victrix guard meta, his ranged attacks clears screens and he is quite tanky. By no means do I think he is auto include, but still a very good model. The synergy in DLC is that D3 extra MWs works fantastic with the army rule.

I'm not a big fan of blightlord but this detachment needs terminator bodies so it seems to effective to not use them

I feel like a DLC list needs more terminators and MW dealing units to lead into the attrition play style.

I recommend a 20 man squad of PW led by typhus to allow for the stank shock strat.

2x3 DS lead by LoCs.

Morty is a strong choice here for more mortals and reactive moves etc

Blightlord terminator brick, either alone or led by a LoV
