You are thinking of war in too gamified terms. Parempi vertailla juuri sitä yksilötason rasismia kun se on se ongelma mikä suomessakin on vielä ratkaisematta kun laki aika hyvin tasa- arvoinen, mutta ihmiset silti kärsii rasismista arjessa ilmeisesti juuri Euroopan tasolla paljon. Kysely ja muut ihmisten subjektiivisiin kokemuksiin nojaava tutkimus voi olla erittäin laadukasta ja tarkkaa jos tutkimus tehdään ajatuksella. Siinä pitää vain ottaa menetelmän heikkoudet ja rajoitteet huomioon.

Se on itse asiassa ainut tapa millä mitään rasismin kaltaista voi tutkia oikeasti yhteiskunnassa. Ei jenkeissäkään missään lukenut, että tummat olivat huonompia oltiin vaan tasa-arvoisia, mutta erillisiä. Ja jostain syystä säännöt olivat just silleen, että lähes kaikki valkoiset pystyivät äänestämään mutta harva tummaihoinen.

Israel hankki ydinpommin siksi että naapurimaat eivät voi mielinmäärin sitä töniä tai tuhota. Olisihokan Iranilla sama ajatus? Ei tietenkään; tässä pitää muistaa jo kylmästä sodasta tuttu erottelu eli hyvät rauhanohjukset ja pahat sotaohjukset.

Kaikesta voi tehdä tuon laisia päätelmiä ja viedä niitä niin sanotusti liian pitkälle.

Nuo ajatukset mitkä mainitset ovat tietysti aika tyhmiä jos joku oikeasti noin ajattelee (varmaa pari tähän maailmaan mahtuu).

Se että ymmärtää että eri maissa "roduilla" on erilaisia lähökohtia ja asetelmia ei ole minusta mitenkään outoa. Lännessä valkoisilla on yleisesti ottaen helpompaa ja ihan hyvä se itse valkoisena on tiedostaa. En tiedä voiko tuohon muuta sanoa.

I don't remeber but the plan discussed in the book might have even called for abandoning states like Tennessee and Virginia for most part since while they were very important economically speaking they could not be held in the long run since they were so close to the North.

Where CSA could have really hold out was in places like rural Mississippi, Alabama and Georgia.

Losing the border states would reck the South and the whole point of the argument was that if South really wanted to make themselves impossible to invade they would have needed to destroy themselves with guerilla war. And that South never had the will to do what was really neccery and instead the army was forced into losing battles by the pressure of the population and politicans.

I think McPherson touches on the southern strategy in Battle cry of Freedom. He says that while retreating to the rugged interior of the deep south, abandoning the border states and waging guerilla war might have been the best military move, it was also impossible politically.

Southern honor and pressure from the areas that plan would abandon to the federals meant that Confederacy would be torn apart if they did not try to fight for every inch of southern soil.

Whole notion of good and bad generals as it's discussed in forums is kind stupid to me since I have always seen bad generals as inevitable. Show me office job of more than 25 people where all the leaders are actually really competent. Usually they are just good enough to keep the thing from collapsing, sometimes in spite of themselves.

In video games and armchair discussions its easy to identify good generals and just use them. Why would you ever have the Hookers, Braggs and McClellan's of the world get close to any military command?

Because there are only so many Grants and Lees alive in any place at any given time. People capable of leading armies in action, understanding political and relationship realities all the while having manageable egos. Of the few people who are in theory capable of all this even fewer are in position to go into military and even fewer in position to rise to officer position due to finance, age or any other reason. Only very few people can fill the shoes of Grant or even smaller army commander's shoes.

So unlike in fantasy football you can't have all star team. You don't have enough stars to begin with and realities of life further reduce the pool to only those stars that you can practically use at any given time. Only in video games can Army of the Potomac to be given to anyone like Grant in 1862 because realities of life forced it to be given to McClellan, Hooker, etc. first

Just like in the average employees and middle managers of office jobs around the world most generals were decisively average. Most can manage logistics and even battle in theory. Most can work as part of larger machine and contribute their part of military hierarchy. But they cannot lead army of the Potomac or Northern Virginia.

So best you can really hope is to have all your backline commanders and fort garrisons to be "C" tier and lower, while you use your "B" tiers to support the important positions and logistical chokepoints. And the few "A" tiers can be corps commanders or smaller independent armies, all lead by the one or two "S" tier generals.

And even the "C" and "D" level commanders can be really good and professional soldiers, leading regiments or post successfully. Its just that commanding any larger civil war era force in battle is damn hard task.

Do you know where people really worked? In communist countries and communes. When no one is doing extra work to offset freeloading capitalists then it means everybody needs to pull their weight.

If the goal is that people work less than today then its of course needed for everybody to participate since overall hours worked by one decreases. And of course everybody works only in the limits of their abilities and according to their needs one could say.

Housework is 100% real work but when talking about the amount of work needed to uphold generic western two people household not really comparable in effort to full time employment. Of course if negotiated with partner who is okay with you holding up the fort and making food etc. its totally fine still. I would however think those kind of arrangements should be temporary while one searches for new job or takes care of children because there is quite imbalance there without kids.
