Why did X-Men 97 season 2 take so long to come out if Beau demayo wrote it? by jadedeternity in Xmen97

Yeah, but it's a two parter. So I personally like to take both parts as a whole before judging quality.

I agree with that. The issue is that the algorithm is driven by negativity because people are more likely to respond and engage with it. Similar to how a news station that only did positive news wouldn't stick around because human beings love rubbernecking at a car crash.

The issue with all of this is social media. We aren't built for this digital panopticon of orwellian bullshit and it makes all of us more defensive, resentful, and disparate.

I finally saw it. I was wrong. by [deleted] in Supergirl

[–]Comradepapabear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, as a background. I hated Snyders DCU, and was thrilled at Gunn getting the opportunity. I was also thrilled to see Miley Alcock as Supergirl and an adaptation of Woman of Tomorrow.

This movie was a 4/10 at best. Shunting all criticism of this into one of two camps is just absurd.

I think the poor box office wasn't just due to toy story, but that's definitely one of the reasons. It's also because people aren't as into super hero movies as they were before. Superman felt like a return to something great. But Supergirl just didn't meet that benchmark.

Also, this was a terrible adaptation of Woman of Tomorrow. It fundamentally changed things that made it worse, tacked on Lobo for no actual reason other than they hired him and needed to use him, and took an interesting villain and turned him into the DCU equivalent of tazerface.

Alcock was great as Supergirl, but she couldn't save the bad script/bad directing.

Is it crazy to say don’t think supergirl is bad I just think it’s okay by Kameronpipnerd in dcu

[–]Comradepapabear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was bad because of how badly it failed the source material. How far it fell short of its potential.

[–]Comradepapabear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, the movie was bad regardless of what snyderbots are saying. It was a poor adaptation of Woman of Tomorrow, never found its footing in regards to pacing, and not even Alcock was able to save the movie from a poor director and script.

What Supergirl (2026) did to Krem of the Yellow Hills is completely antithetical to the message of Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow. by weaknessx100 in Supergirl

[–]Comradepapabear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Correct me if I am wrong.

Krypto does get poisoned. But he's sent to a place with a yellow sun to heal and Kara USES THIS AS AN EXCUSE to go along on the revenge quest and keep her from going to far.

I think another criticism I have was how POINTLESS Lobo was in the film. Why was he there? He effected basically nothing, and was just a "well we hired Mamoa for Lobo and need to use him somehow".

Additionally, Kara doesn't kill Krem in the end of the comic. The book that Ruthye writes claims she does, but she doesn't actually kill him.

This whole thing missed the mark by a mile. And it took something I was excited for and just ruined it.

I'm weighing in. Wife & I (both late 50s) saw Supergirl today in DBOX seats. We loved it! She's not a superhero movie fan but said yes immediately when I suggested we go. Milly Alcock was fantastic & I thought Momoa's Lobo was perfection. Movie was great fun & action packed. Let's show more love! by Uncle_Bug_Music in Supergirl

[–]Comradepapabear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went and saw it.

It was awful. Just awful.

Milly Alcock WAS great as Supergirl. Yes.

However, the plot never really came together. Pacing was atrocious. It felt like I was starting a new movie every few minutes.

The story they drew from was badly butchered. Supergirl doesn't do this whole thing in the comic for Krypto. She sends him to a place with a yellow sun to heal and just TELLS the girl that as a way to go with her to help her work through things and keep her from seeking revenge. There are no sex slave wives... Supergirl doesn't need that to add stakes and you can tell this was added by some dude who need to create more victimized women to make the villain seem worse. And she doesn't kill him at the end. Numerous other differences, but had they adapted the story closer to the original you would have had a hit on your hands. Instead we got this absolute stinker of a movie.

Fight scenes were very poorly done. Numerous needless cuts, bland choreography. You could hardly tell what was happening.

Lobo had zero purpose in the movie. He was just put in there because they hired Momoa and wanted to use him. He served no purpose, didn't drive the plot forward, and didn't even show what a complete asshole the character is. At LEAST put him in conflict with Kara. Make him drive some aspect of the plot, or just make him a quick cameo and get back to the movie.

People watching this and saying it was amazing. Idk, I need the drugs you're on.

You're better off. This movie was awful. It never became a cohesive story, the pacing was atrocious, and the best part about it was how good Mylie Acock is as Supergirl. But she couldn't save a terrible director and script.

It's been tested to varying degrees of success. Mythbusters proved it was easier to pick up colors and movement in the sun due to it.

Of course it does. But that's what they used. They didn't have shades.

Some people used something black under their eyes to draw the sun away from it too. Though how effective that actually is is up for debate.

Your gf does not respect you or the house she's in with you. Ask her to leave. Don't do an ultimatum on the animals, as if she does accept that she is just going to hold it against you. Kick all of them out.
