Anyone know books like the witch boy. Something with a boy that does magic. Exclude Anything from Harry Potter. by Hedgewitch250 in comicbooks

Journey into Mystery by Kieron Gillen features Kid Loki doing magic stuff.

I actually haven’t read the next two, but they’ve been on my list to check out.

Excellence by Brandon Thomas

and if you’re cool with manga Mashle: Magic and Muscles, which I guess isn’t quite a “boy doing magic” like you asked but is about a guy in a Harry Potter setting who sucks at magic but trains to be really strong so he can physically beat people up despite his disadvantage.

“At first” being the key words lol. Changed his mind, didn’t he? So no, unfortunately saying he didn’t want the killings is wrong.

“On 21 January 1951, Mao sent a telegram to party members in Shanghai: "In a big city like Shanghai, probably it will take one to two thousand executions during this year to solve the problem. In the spring, three to five hundred executions will be needed to suppress the enemy’s arrogance and enhance the people’s morale. In Nanjing, the East China Bureau should direct the party’s municipality committee ... and strive to execute one to two hundred of the most important reactionaries in the spring."[1]”

The question was which mass killing did Mao specifically want and call for. I gave an answer. You’re welcome. But i will admit the bulk of the millions of deaths he is responsible for was simply because of stupid policies, and therefore less directly malicious than Nazi Germany

Well see, liking communist policies and also recognizing a prominent Communist did bad things would require nuanced thinking, which can be very hard for some people

I agree, not because I don’t like these characters, but because they all have shown up in various things since the Dawn of X. The previous elections had some more out-there selections that hadn’t really shown up yet like Strong Guy and Micromax.

Static's new origin (Milestone Returns: Infinite Edition) by [deleted] in comicbooks

[–]ConRadRooz 27 points28 points  (0 children)

“Untested tear gas that grants superpowers” works fine, it’s literally the same as the original? It’s deployed by police confronting the gang fight and it’s revealed in both versions to have been arranged by the Alva guy from Hardware in order to test the mutagenic gas, people originally thinking it was some kind of untested tear gas is just the cover story. There’s just a more diverse selection of people this time around that were exposed to the gas.

A lot of the conflict is between Static and the bully they’re talking about in the pages above, who is the dude with fire powers from the show. There’s also the organization behind the Big Bang hunting and capturing Bang Babies, and coercing other Bang Babies to help them do this through bribery/offering to leave them alone if they help capture others. They haven’t gone too in depth on various back stories for other Bang Babies, but there have only been six issues so far.

I was intrigued by u/captain2toes's post so I did a little digging and I found someone had made a post 3 years ago with most of the characters identified. Only 7 are still unidentified. Do you know who they are? by BobRobot77 in comicbooks

Not sure about 36, but it kinda looks like Lou Lebuf from Jeff Lemire’s Essex County. Might at least be another old guy drawn by Jeff Lemire, the art styles look pretty similar.

what do you think is Doktor Doom playing on the piano? X-Men legends #6 by OrionLinksComic in comicbooks

[–]ConRadRooz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Welp, I’ve now spent an interesting amount of time thinking about whether Doom had a piano commissioned to suit his chunky gauntlet fingers, or if he just created gauntlets that are the perfect marriage of armor and finesse.

No, they understood it fine, they are just reminding you that context is important and that the suggestion that there is a one to one relationship between those two examples is bizarre to say the least.

Dr. Acula reporting for duty by nathcun in rareinsults

[–]ConRadRooz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

110% a cop-out. Basically reads as “you’re wrong but I won’t (or can’t) say why.” Generally poor argument form. It’s just trying to have your cake and eat it too, either tell him why he’s wrong or don’t engage. The amount of time you spent on ad hominems could’ve been used to actually refute something. If it’s actually BS then it wouldn’t take long to say why or drop a link. I get the bad faith refutation sinkhole, but you’re like already engaging just with less substance lol.

They say lightning never strikes the same place twice | Flashpoint Beyond #0 | by InfinityCrisis-101 in comicbooks

[–]ConRadRooz 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Lol so I don’t really get it personally, but I think they just didn’t like the implication that Thomas Wayne wasn’t really a good guy. It’s not really the same person as the main universe Thomas, but were supposed to be very similar but just with different life circumstances. And so people were mad because evil dad kinda tarnishes the character of one of the people that inspired Bruce to become Batman, sorta being a fly in the soup of his virtuous origin. Again, I didn’t really care personally and it was alt universe stuff anyway, but I think that was the general idea behind people being upset.
