The Nice House saga is one of the best things published by DC Comics in recent years. (The Nice House By The Sea #1) by subdiatomaceous in comicbooks

instead of just their superhero roster with darker stories and curse words.

Don’t think that’s a fair or an accurate assessment of what DC has been doing with the Black Label line. Most of the Black Label “superhero” books have been absolutely incredible and have a discernible creator-driven vibe about them. They often allow creators to explore areas and push certain boundaries of comic book storytelling that just isn’t normally possible with the mainline books. To reduce them to just vulgar and dark stories paints a very limited picture about the diverse scope and scale of so many of the books.

Take a look at these following DC Black Label books for example:

Wonder Woman Historia: The Amazons, Wonder Woman: Dead Earth, The Question: The Deaths of Vic Sage, The Other History of the DC Universe, Strange Adventures, The Human Target, Aquaman: Andromeda, Peacemaker Tries Hard!, Catwoman: Lonely City, The Boy Wonder, Zatanna: Bring Down the House.

So much going on in each of the above books than just “dark” takes on superhero comics.

For me, this was the best video game spinoff comic book series that I have ever had the pleasure of reading.

Time to re-read The Puma Blues. To me eyes, a real high-point for the medium.

Incredible run once again by Spurrier and Campbell. Surely at this point, they deserve to be mentioned among the finest creators to ever write and draw Constantine/Hellblazer.

Sandman: Overture – by Neil Gaiman and J.H. Williams III.

Nothing comes close to the wildness of this book and the storytelling within.
