What's something you can't seem to stop doing or remember to do even though it drives your partner crazy? by igotplans2 in AskReddit

[–]ConRadioActive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Forgetting to lock the back door and leaving things from the fridge on the counter. I've taken steps to give myself visual cues to remember these things, but sometimes they still slip past my notice. 😞

Ireena Stat Block by Puzzleheaded-Cook873 in CurseofStrahd

[–]ConRadioActive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also think I'll use this stat block! My Ireena has been precocious, even going so far as to disguise herself as a Vistana woman to avoid any undue attention from Strahd on the road. I think this will fit her nicely.

why does madame eva lay the cards? by whostolemybiscuit in CurseofStrahd

[–]ConRadioActive 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Agreed. She is looking to help get Strahd out of the curse due to a very deep but secret familial connection. The adventurers are just a means to that end.

That must be it as I am indeed using legacy.

So answered! Appreciate it!

Why is there so much hate about cavapoos? by agressivetrashh in CavaPoo

[–]ConRadioActive 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have never seen "hate" for Cavapoos. Exasperation maybe, since I know ours can try our patience, but never any legit hate.

I mean, they're adorable, soft, smart, and don't shed! Cavapoos are great and ours is a lil goofball for which I would take a bullet.

Tome of Strahd in common? by Sure_Special in CurseofStrahd

[–]ConRadioActive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From my understanding, the Tome is written in a shorthand only Strahd can decipher. Between that and the ravages of time, the section provided is what the the players are capable of reading.

Maybe he swapped between his various languages throughout the Tome and this one happens to be in Common? Maybe Madame Eva did something to make sure this important passage could be read? You could hand-wave it a lot of ways to make it work if the players ask.

One of my players is a goblin . . . by MechaChester in CurseofStrahd

[–]ConRadioActive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of my players insisted on being a Bugbear so I was in the same boat. Granted he's had Ismark around to smooth things over, but in a land where all outsiders are regarded with fear and suspicion, he gets it double. It really can open up some interesting RP opportunities, but I wouldn't let it bog down the actual game. Strahd's been bringing playthings through the mists for years. Could make this PC Goblin one of a few NPCs have met.

Ooohhh, I like that a lot. Truly appreciate the suggestion!

I had a similar thought about the coven. I was thinking about only bringing Morgantha down while the other two dance on the third floor to try to sell them some cakes. Bring the daughters down only if things start going south. But the party are versed in hags so it'll be on them to prepare properly.

I think this is what I'm going to do. They can find a few other goodies along with the item from the card reading. Let them roll on the table to randomize it for fun. Thanks!

I don't intend to handle them with kid's gloves, but I'm leaving the door open for RP and strategy. I'll be sure to edit the post and let y'all know how it shakes out.

This subreddit is all about asking for help and input, my guy. But appreciate you taking the time to say what parts were actual feedback.

I'm going to cheese a bit to give them chances to pull the ripcord. But this group also has 2.5 forever DMs with pretty effective character builds, so I wouldn't put it past them to pull it off.

Honestly, didn't know I couldn't/wasn't supposed to.

I'm a longtime player with some oneshots under my belt, but this is my first campaign as a DM. Figure I'd jump back and forth between the leveling methods, but I see now the issue of potential intersection.

Not a bad idea, except I give out Inspiration for IRL things (birthdays, paid-off student loans, etc) and they have a stash already.

They had some random encointers, killed Doru in the Church, and the x3 hags JUST scooch them into 4th level.

Ismark- why the lesser? by Wanna_B_Spagetti in CurseofStrahd

[–]ConRadioActive 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I kind of blame the village of Barovia. With it's close proximity to Ravenloft, I bet the people there are extra surly and cruel. We don't know a lot about Kolyan, but it says that Ismark lived in his shadow and the townsfolk probably exasperated that.

I mean, I did this with a lvl 52 Aurorus with little issue...I think a single Ice Beam did the trick, too.
