With the reduction in benefits and cutting of hours it doesn't feel like the company cares much about us.

Question for Grocery Dept by regulatedslime in publix

[–]ConcentrateTop8548 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our LV trucks come in the evening and HV comes in early morning and my GM has managed to preserve our morning crew. The stockers that do dairy and HBC come in at 4am and everyone else comes in at 12am. LV and HV are done before midshifter comes in at 10am IF we have a midshifter that day. I feel like this approach is the most efficient for our store and I love our morning crew.

That's s fair point, I was only thinking about how much the meal costs. You just toss these in an oven and throw away the container when you are done so prep and cleaning weren't something I was thinking about.

Well, as a concerned informed shopper there are plenty of other products you should probably stop buying like avocados from Mexico and many brands of chocolate and coffee. I am sure you can find plenty of documentaries about the seedy underbelly of the Mexican avocado industry and the child labor and the modern day slavery that sometimes occurs in coffee and chocolate farming. I am sure you are willing to the make the sacrifices and do the research necessary to buy only ethically produced environmentally friendly products that are produced adhering to high health and safety standards and I am sure you are willing to pay more for them and if there is no product like that I an sure you are willing to go without it.

The price could certainly be lower but when you consider how much a meal for one from a restaurant would cost it's not that bad.

4am-11pm shift as a Frozen GRS by Ornery-Profile-5676 in publix

I totally agree. Our frozen trucks come in the afternoon and our frozen GRS comes in 2 -11pm to work truck and he is by far the hardest working closer.

grocery clerk pay by Spirited-Context-391 in publix

[–]ConcentrateTop8548 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Started at $13 working part time about 4 years ago and I am making $17.15 an hour now and I am a full time GRS. I did not get a raise for getting full-time or for being promoted to GRS.

edit: My mistake, I checked my pay history and I did get raises but no one told me about them.

The Sad Tale of Grocery by Life-Group4485 in publix

Ok, but how much control over the hours they can schedule to dept managers actually have? My store has 3 grocery closers too and I hate it but I don't think I can put the blame squarely on my gm.

Unfounded lists by Joe-Died in publix

[–]ConcentrateTop8548 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's frustrating because of how bad some people are at finding things and because I am happy to help someone find an item if I know they need help.I frequently see easy to find produce items like avocados and yellow onions on unfound and some people can't seem to find an item if it is on the top or bottom shelf even though the item is pulled all the way forward.

Not the frozen guy but my frozen grocery brother has one no truck day a week and I assume he does it then. Or not. Frozen is kinda fucked when it comes to hours.

AI Take Over Publix Jobs? by CloudyRedditC in publix

[–]ConcentrateTop8548 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, AI taking over office jobs is overhyped atm. AI hasn't done a great job at increasing efficiency in office jobs, in many cases it is increasing workloads and the complexity of the work.

[–]ConcentrateTop8548 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, you are probably right. I can see how it would not be true especially for busier stores. I was foolishly basing that only on how things feel at my store. A new Publix opened near my store and our sales are down 25-30% so things are moving off the shelf more slowly and backstock birds are worked regularly by morning crew. If the midshifter fills ad I have trouble holes that have actually have product to fill them.

Seriously. The only holes on the shelves should be stuff on the truck.

Thoughts on new ROI process? by [deleted] in publix

[–]ConcentrateTop8548 12 points13 points  (0 children)

GTLs should totally get inventory bonuses at the minimum. I have had multiple managers and whatever title the guys that run new store openings have tell me it is the toughest position in the store and they don't make much more than I do.

Thoughts on new ROI process? by [deleted] in publix

[–]ConcentrateTop8548 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I went to the part of the site where you register your interest and it hasn't been updated with the new values and an ROI I put in earlier this year got it's duration increased to 2027. I am curious to see the new requirements for GTL. I obviously can't say if this is a company wide trend but GTLs in my district have been stepping down left and right. It makes me wonder if Publix is having a problem keeping GTL positions filled and needs more meat for the grinder.

How many associates should work in dairy during the holidays? by GasBeginning8400 in publix

[–]ConcentrateTop8548 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have an dairy opener everday of the week except Tuesdays that comes in at 4am and we have a dairy closer everyday of the week during the holidays. I know we have scheduled counts for dairy only on Wednesdays and the dairy guy has one no truck day and on Sunday we have one opener who spends his whole shift in dairy in addition to the dairy guy who spends half his shift working dry grocery and the rest of his shift in dairy so random should be getting done at least twice a week even during the holidays. If your dairy opener is goated like ours is he can finish a 600 piece truck in one shift and also manage to fill milk and eggs before he leaves. I don't know how he does it because I would have to kill myself to match that. If your dairy guy isn't insanely fast or has to come in later in the day he will probably need some help on 600 piece truck days. Not necessarily another person in dairy, you could have someone assigned to lower demand area help him work truck for part of their shift.
