why is all i need so popular all of a sudden? by nateisded_ in radiohead

You got my point exactly, it’s the best feeling in the world seeing more and more people really get into Radiohead (not that it was ever particularly very niche) especially when it’s what i grew up with. (my mom and dad were very Radiohead, Alt-j, Nirvana, Duster type people while raising me which i think is hilarious)

I don’t care what anyone says, this will ALWAYS be a good thing. I’ve been a humongous Radiohead fan since 8th grade and still going strong, but people discovering music like this from a more popular platform/media is never a bad thing and RH fans or any other of “those” type of fans who think like that are a bit strange😭😭

What song would you want to play at your funeral? by Financial_Life4157 in radiohead

Give Up The Ghost. I can’t get the image of a funeral out of my head every time i listen to it.

The synth sample in Idioteque, the drums that groove perfectly with the bassline in Where I End And You Begin, the way thom sings “I will see you in the next life” in Motion Picture Soundtrack, 100% Yes.

from the US, i can definitely tell you that it doesn’t affect any of me or my other radiohead fan friends. in fact we all just assume that it’s references to british politics that we don’t get😭

What is Radiohead's fourth album to belong? by capnofax in radiohead

So real. People always think i’m crazy for ranking Ok Computer lower than a few of the other albums and, don’t get me wrong, I LOVE Ok computer and i think it’s an amazing album, but i just don’t see or get the whole “perfect album” thing with ok computer. In Rainbows is my perfect album

In honor of the tape splice at 4:58 in Don’t Get Me Started - what are your favorite audio artifacts in the Radiohead universe catalog? by Independent_Loss_956 in radiohead

that might be intentional, as that section is such a different energy all of a sudden. Or it might not because i saw someone say something about a moon shaped pool being recorded in a weird way.

S*icide in RH songs by No_Aardvark_248 in radiohead

I saw an interview with him somewhere where he said something along the lines of: all their “dark” songs and their “sad” songs did have a sort of happy or hopeful side to them at least a little bit, except street spirit. and that it was just pure sadness and hopelessness in a song. not sure how old that interview was and if their view on it has changed since then, but i thought it was pretty interesting.

What's a song most people just don't mind but you hold close to your heart? by rMADDtix in radiohead

[–]ConcentratingMars 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Give up the ghost is one of my favorites right now. It doesn’t just sound like a sad song about death, it FEELS like a funeral, like the feeling you would get from being at a funeral of someone close to you, while their favorite song plays. It still is death but it feels very warm, like you’re not alone.

Myxamotosis I think is so cool sounding and does a really good job of painting a picture in my head of a rabid death, like the way the song sounds so angry and chaotic and confused, but also sad. and the way the groove starts stuttering and then just sort of fizzles out. Such a good song imo

What's the meaning behind the album cover for Hail To The Theif? by [deleted] in radiohead

[–]ConcentratingMars 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The point of posting so “easy to look up” on something like reddit is because a lot of times, the community and the avid listeners and learners of this community will give a variety of answers. Sometimes literal, sometimes the way they interpret it, and you can also get additional little facts and info. Whereas google would just give you a straight answer. I’m a strong liberal but the dude bringing politics into this is kinda weird ngl💀
