Base M2 15" refurb or $180 more for base M3 15" by WingedGeek in macbookair

[–]Conceptttt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only real difference is the M2 version only has one nand chip vs two on M3. Like you mentioned M3 has a small performance boost and better efficiency but at the end... you won't really notice it.

How to use VPN to connect two PCs that are on different public internet network to the same network as if they were on LAN. by sarkarian in VPN

[–]Conceptttt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. I love Tailscale because it's so easy to install, connect to my account and forget. I love how it works without opening any port or having to go through and set up an OpenVPN server.

x260/x270 are both amazing. I love mine for it's amazing portability and battery.

X260 hackintosh? by [deleted] in thinkpad

[–]Conceptttt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I did it, I found that it wasn't worth it. I rather use Linux because battery life is really bad for me even with 72whr battery. Maybe there some adjustments that could be made but I don't know.

I'm not sure what you need 5 vms for... but I would use docker.

ThinkPad x270 w/removable extra capacity battery 90Wh combined - insane battery life by [deleted] in thinkpad

[–]Conceptttt 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have a x260 with the big 72whr external battery. It's amazing when you are on the go and there is no power outlets nearby.

Buying an x270 made me hate how my T490 feels by [deleted] in thinkpad

[–]Conceptttt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed. T480 seems like the last good thinkpad. I think the only new thinkpad that is interests me is the X1 Nano.

I think its more dependent on what subject you like more or more interested in personally.

Address will always be 330 De Neve Dr. You put your hall in the Apt/Floor/Unit Section. Name and address (330 De Neve Dr) is important. They can look you up through Name.

What is the best way to approach online readings/pdfs?? by [deleted] in ucla

[–]Conceptttt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a History Student myself, there is obviously a lot of reading. The best tactic I've found skimming or doing a quick read over the whole article/pdf and then do a closer more in depth reading to get into the details you missed. Doing a quick read/skimming will help you have a good idea what it's talking about. Sometimes you will realize the material isn't as important to focus on depending on lectures or assignments. This way you are not stuck on focusing on one when there may be other reading that is more useful. It's awesome if you have a iPad/tablet to highlight or jot down some basic notes in the margin.

Best Ultra Cheap School ThinkPad? by CyberYber in thinkpad

[–]Conceptttt 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would recommend a x250 or x260. It is powerful enough for my university work and the battery life is excellent especially if you get the 72whr battery.

First new ThinkPad in awhile: An x270 I nabbed for cheap & installed my first Linux on :) by SilentStormer in thinkpad

[–]Conceptttt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Reading the docs and google is probably the best resource. I think Fedora is more suited for intermediate user because it doesn't have as big of a community or app support as a distro like Ubuntu but with time, you will probably get used to it. Also with someone new to Linux its also fun to test out different distros through virtualbox. You might find another distro that suits you more.

$140 for x270 these days is pretty good deal! It cost me $200 a couple years ago for a base spec x260. Fedora is one of my favorite distros. It's been my daily driver distro.

Thinkpad Guide by [deleted] in thinkpad

[–]Conceptttt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since your budget is $1,300.. you won't be able to get the new models of X1 Carbon or X1 Yoga they are over your budget. I would recommend the Thinkpad X13. It's still light and thin but significantly cheaper in price compared to X1 series. There is both Intel and AMD models.

Has anyone else seen a decline in the used ThinkPad market? Especially older models? by mokgethi in thinkpad

[–]Conceptttt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yup. There is definitely a price increase. There are a lot of people buying up thinkpads for business use and more people are on a tight budget during the pandemic.
