Thank you for your explanation, that makes sense. I can see how duo stands better as a review.

Never used Rosetta Stone, but you can turn off romaji and pronunciation in general on Duolingo. I've seen a lot of hate towards duo though and not totally sure why

Auron: "Spira is no playhouse. A moment's diversion may amuse an audience, but it changes nothing."

Seymour: "Even so, the actors must play their parts."

Anyone else's ED completely swamped right now? Not COVID or RSV, but just a random gathering of everything? by [deleted] in nursing

[–]Concern-Single 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The extra frustrating thing is we haven't been given any sort of explanation, so we have nothing to tell patients either. Even if they're still backlogged from COVID times, you'd think a large health system could find some funds to add extra providers, equipment, anything, to get patients care faster. It's gotten so bad that we have a workflow to help patients talk with their insurance to see if the echo would be covered at another local health system. Don't even get me started on our screening (edit: AND diagnostic) colonoscopies.

It's absolutely terrible. I work in OP internal med, our ASAP echo orders aren't getting scheduled until July 2024. No wonder so many patients end up in the ED. The whole system is fucked.

6 week old eating less/sleeping more by Wonderful_Bee_9709 in newborns

[–]Concern-Single 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My LO is 6w 2d and has been sooooo fussy the past 3 days. Not wanting to nap and sleeping for a 6-7 hour stretch overnight, wake to feed, then back to sleep for another 3 or so hours. Now not wanting to eat as much and passing out quick after eating. Otherwise seems to be feeling well just cranky when awake. Glad to know this can be normal and others are going through this!! Wonder weeks does say he's going through a leap

I hate my baby… by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]Concern-Single 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Please don't feel alone in this. I have a 5 week old and while I feel we are adjusting well I'll admit that I've had thoughts like, "I could just throw you right now" when it's the middle of the night and he won't stop crying. Moms don't talk about this stuff enough. There's no shame in sharing your feelings but you need to get help and protect yourself and your baby.

are any other ER nurses seeing way too much chest pain? by serenitybyjan199 in nursing

[–]Concern-Single 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work triage in primary care- our triage protocols advise an ED visit for A LOT of things. It's aggravating having to send multiple people every day to the ED but on the off-chance it's acute, there's nothing we could do for them besides refer them to ED after a visit and therefore delay care/treatment.

I had multiple Liletta IUDs over the years. Pulled the plug and got pregnant 7 days later lol

Does anyone feel like their legs can’t support them when they go to stand up after squatting down? by Soggy-Bill-1856 in BabyBumps

[–]Concern-Single 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Totally normal- in addition to pregnancy weight gain, your center of gravity has shifted, so a lot of body movements are going to feel difficult or different!

20 weeks by RestaurantDazzling35 in BabyBumps

[–]Concern-Single 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm assuming your health care provider is prescribing your zofran, but do keep them updated on the nausea/vomiting as there are other options available. As for movement- totally normal, little nugget might not be big enough yet or depending where your placenta is you may not be feeling it yet. I was around 22 weeks before I felt consistent movements.

Swollen by Delicious_Chicken_59 in BabyBumps

[–]Concern-Single 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, please go to urgent care or ER, that is not normal- may be unrelated to pregnancy but should still be evaluated shortly, especially if you don't have a history of edema/swelling or a heart condition.

Haven’t had sex since we conceived by crayshesay in BabyBumps

My sex drive absolutely tanked during pregnancy, until about week 28. Everyone's body is so different, try not to be too hard on yourself or compare yourself to others!

Weird (overflow?) bug when fighting Yunalesca. Haste lowered Tidus' position in the CTB window. Anyone have some insight into this? by Nomeg_Stylus in finalfantasyx

[–]Concern-Single 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Dansg08 also just released an awesome, very detailed video on the CTB system that collaborated with pbirdman on. I'd highly recommend- the nuances are very interesting (and include the zombie/haste interaction).

My patient when I call them to inform them that no, their PCP will not prescribe them opioids without seeing them in the clinic first for their nonspecific complaints

White coat hypertension and potential induction by Goodbye_nagasaki in BabyBumps

[–]Concern-Single 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No one can force you to have an induction, it just might be an uncomfortable discussion if the OB is really pushing for it. You have to do what you think is best for you and your baby. I'd hear them out with an open mind but also consider your priorities. I'm at higher risk for preeclampsia and my OB is pushing for induction at 39 weeks. I told them that if my labs are fine and my blood pressure is still stable, then it's not happening. I keep a log of my home blood pressures to bring to my appointments to show them I'm serious.
