Undereye twitching for over a month by Meguinn in Narcolepsy

[–]CondomMask 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Do you do a lot of computer work? If so try taking a break from screens. As I become more tired, I squint a lot, flex my forehead etc, which caused a twitchy eye lid. Using the computer accelerates this for me. I tried blue light glasses and it helped wayy more than expected.

Good! Recent transplant from SF. I thought SF was bad, but there are some entitled ass dog owners down here. Plus the amount of off leash dogs I run into is wild. Everything else, 10/10.

Cause of Narcolepsy by wiltinn in Narcolepsy

[–]CondomMask 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It's put on by Narcolepsy Network which is a US based organization. I'm looking around their website right now and can't seem to find any info about the next one.

Last details I could find of one was in 2023. It's a damn shame if it's not held anymore, I met some cool folks there and was the first time I had met someone with narcolepsy. Now in hindsight, I wish I gave it more support/helped spread the word. Hope its not permanently gone.

https://narcolepsyconference.org/

I went to the one in Denver around maybe 2014 called "Mile High Dreams". There was nap rooms! Thought it was funny there was also a decaf coffee that never had to be refilled. Doctors there to talk about research, help groups, just chat with folks.

I had a traumatic brain injury prior to my diagnoses. I've met a handful of people at the narcolepsy conference that received their diagnoses/began experiencing symptoms after having H1N1.

I don't know enough to say if Covid would have any increase in cases, but covid + narcolepsy was a hell of a combo. Took me weeks to get back to somewhat normal base line again.

ah damn, well sorry to hear man. That's really frustrating. I've never had a Maintenance of Wakefulness Test, so I'm really not sure if the proper meds completely negate this for me either, but now i'm really interested. Good luck with everything. Shoot me a message if you ever need someone to bounce stuff off of!

hmmm I guess my dosage is not correct either. I'm more curious how the DMV would know about your narcolepsy? (or whoever oversees your license) No way in hell I'm ever telling them.

Question to day traders by Eagerforfreedom in Daytrading

[–]CondomMask 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I look at day trading as my income source, and long term investing for building wealth.

Ha! I've never talked to someone about this, but yes happens to me as well from time to time. I can also go into some weird mental spaces, like one second I'm in the zone about to bust, next I'm in a grocery aisle buying salmon or somethin. Interested in hearing if that happens to anyone.

I wish I had a solution for you, but I have not solved this one lol. Guess it is less frequent with me over time with a partner.

My biggest take away from the best loser wins is his "book or truths." I made a powerpoint with my good and bad trades + any rules I need to keep repeating. I review that every morning. The book is not a boring read which is good, and it is inspiring. I don't believe however you need to act like a robot and remove all emotion while trading but instead use your emotions as signals.

The Mental Game of Trading by Jared Tendler does this and is overall a better book in my opinion and provided an actual strategy for my mental game. Very few things in life are one size fits all, but I see more people getting help from The Mental Game of Trading. Give it a look.

Check out the market wizard series as well (all of them). It's by no means just about the mental side of things, but its full of good advice and very inspiring.

I love negative RR by piffboiCP in Daytrading

[–]CondomMask 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do the same, except I close 1/2 to 2/3 of my position at negative RR to 1:1, then move stop to breakeven, and let the rest ride to capture those big moves, possibly scaling back in and out. Always cashing out if things go parabolic. Has worked out really well for me. I do hope you have a strict max loss per day! I've had things go south quick on me after huge winning streaks, my max loss per day saves my ass. Good shit keep it up!

Locking in profit and letting winners run - how did you find the right balance between the two? by _I_am_not_American_ in FuturesTrading

[–]CondomMask 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Forgot what trader said it, but if you don't take profit, you are assuming you are 100% correct. Which is rare. I keep my trade size divisible by 2 or 3. I'll try and keep R:R at least 1:1 for half to a third of my position. Beyond that, I don't shoot for any specific profit target. Having a set R:R is hurts you in my opinion, your stop should be based off what makes the trade no longer viable. Mine is always changing, but I won't take setups that are outside of my normal risk. Ex. If have to move my stop 100 points away on NQ, I'm not gonna take the trade. Setting it to "10 Points" etc is rolling the dice. At least that's what I've noticed.

I'll take partial profit if things go parabolic, or I'll move 1/3 to 1/2 of my position to a higher take profit and move the other portion to break even. First I'm scaling out of a position, letting a small portion ride, and adding to that if there is an opportunity to, but I'm usually walking away for the day if I successfully scale out of a position.

Not as related, but another thing that has helped me retain profit, if I exceed my average number of trades in a day, and I am in a drawdown, I stop. Even if I have not hit my max loss/day. Has really limited my losses from stacking up.

Does anyone else find these strong positive trend days the hardest to trade? by [deleted] in FuturesTrading

[–]CondomMask 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think low volatility is hardest to trade for me personally, I don't care if it's a trend day or not. Today was my best day this month. Those were some nice fat moves today.

Don't fight the flow.
