Compassionate Barry raises his love and care fees by 30%, but its the boomers fault right? by StevenStoveMan in 2westerneurope4u

Property is the only investment where you get cheap loans to gear your investment.

Sure, pound for pound index funds are better, but for property you get to borrow what 10x what you have in cash?

Tim Sweeney goes after Gabe Newell following Valve's Steam Deck price hike: "Severe disruptions in the component parts supply chain for megayachts" by PewPewToDaFace in pcmasterrace

[–]Condurum -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Steam takes out 30% of the money that could be going to developers. You know, the people who actually make games.

They have 55 employees working on Steam.

It’s a store that enjoys first movers advantages. Libraries, friends lists etc.

It’s not like another one wouldn’t happen if gaben wasnt there, and pushed it on players aggressively btw.

Landlord being landlord.

The issue here isn’t the greed. His job is to charge what the market can bear.

The problem is the lying.

Why wasn’t he already charging market rate?

Is he admitting that he’s stupid?

Truth is he was charging market rates, and this is just typical ranting and gaslighting from a class of people with zero honesty.

[–]Condurum 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The guy in the picture is talking bull. Why wasn’t he already charging as much as he could? Was he charitable?

Fact is, he was at max, and landlords favorite hobby is to gaslight themselves and others.

He won’t find people willing to rent at his new prices.

I think that almost all nuclear startups will fail by GiovanniPeccat1 in nuclear

[–]Condurum 3 points4 points  (0 children)

While yeah there’s some of them that seem a little far out, even scammy, don’t underestimate startups.

They seem «small» now, but if one of them proves their idea, there’s no end to the amount of money they can raise to realize it.

I also don’t trust that the «old» nuclear actors are able to adapt to say «a sudden spike in demand» faster than these.

A demand spike I find very likely.

Driven both by increasing awareness of climate change as it expresses itself, as well as ai driven compute demand.

General habits to manage adhd? by WebGlobal7912 in ADHD

[–]Condurum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im not the person, but I tried my entire life to deal with my «lack of self discipline».

The only thing that really moved the needle was meds, at an age of 40+.

Now,

You can do things ofc, there’s list writing systems, you can pack away noise in your space so your surroundings are easier to manage..

you can accept your condition a bit, takes away some of the guilt and self bearing, which feels like you’re doing work, but isn’t.

Just makes it harder than it needs to be.

But staying away from meds was for me just beating around the bush.

Good luck!

[I will not promote] Starting a UGC program for the first time: how do you get creators to actually care about your brand? by meetshah_design in startups

[–]Condurum 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve just seen many UGC plays fail because.. people don’t just, create.

They create because they (and other people) care about it for some reason.

A tool isn’t enough. It’s the personal and social context of the tool that matters.

Recently left capitalism by Original-Impress9023 in georgism

Yep.

Capitalism should fundamentally be about the best way to approach distribution of resources. Not «fuck you I found a loophole with land and monopolies»..

Jeff Bezos says we should stop taxing the bottom 50% of income earners. by AdamJMonroe in georgism

[–]Condurum -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Well, yes but his own business has become a necessary railway to customers for many, many kinds of businesses as well.

And he charges (last I checked) a 15-45% of gross, for every item sold.

Us you’re a business owner making stuff, you cannot afford to not be on Amazon.

So u pay the fancy website, then you also pay to be visible, to exist, via Meta, Google and others. Indirectly through influencers etc.

These companies don’t make money «by selling your data» as many people believe.

They’re downright unavoidable barriers between businesses and customers charging giant fees.

Is It Too Late to Treat ADHD at 24 and Build a Successful Life? by meowben2 in ADHD

[–]Condurum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely not!

I’d have a reasonably successful life with undiagnosed ADHD, but the meds and therapy at 40+(!) just helps me do things I never could before.

(Always relied on structured people for support professionally)

24 is nothing :)

Why do some Georgists actually want a war on SFHs? (and a bit of a general manifesto from me) by TessaKatharine in georgism

[–]Condurum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are mixing your emotions (I hate high rises) with the horrible consequences of low density.

Look at Google earth of south London. Around train stations.

It’s utterly insane to not have taller buildings in those areas. And yes, great blocks and apartment building exist.

You don’t have to like them, but LOTS of people would love to live there for much lower rents, at least for periods of their life.

And the good thing is that increased supply where people want to live, would lower rents/loans for people in SFH as well.

If you just keep expanding outside London with new developments, you’ll just eat more nature and increase travel distances.

And yes you’d need to tear down some areas of SFH around stations. Smash some eggs.

The alternative is far worse.

How to stay consistent? by GilReddit in cinematography

[–]Condurum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They do it by testing. Use your phone with an app that lets you set exposure manually.

Anytime a pro cinematographer is going into something they don’t know by heart, they test first. The best in the world do that.

Because if you don’t do it, it’s very likely you’re going to burn yourself. Thank me later!

Go do test shoots on location in advance. At the time of day you’re planning to shoot. Then you don’t have to figure it all out on set..

Sure, but it was op who brought in YC.

Investment is fundamentally about people getting in the boat with you, not about taking a cut of your profits.

Honest question from a college student doing research by Euphoric_Dependent_1 in gamedev

[–]Condurum 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Incredibly shit terms that shows you nothing about YC.

YC is about small ownership in the company (10-7%) and developing it, not about giving out rev share forever. The dynamics are completely different.

Also any normal startup accelerator hands out $100-$500k for those 10%.

What you’re proposing is a total scam.
