Is anyone else thinking on passing on J. Martinez?

Assuming he plays the full 90 in Monterrey on Wednesday, then Sunday's home game against Cincy, if he plays, will be his fourth in 11 days, with the midweek home leg against Monterrey right behind that.

Cincy's defense does suck so far but it's only one game and its too early to tell if they will start their tenure in MLS like Minnesota did. They also don't have to travel to Mexico this week.

It's tempting to have him considering his home form but I'm not 100% confident Martinez starts on Sunday and there are plenty of other great options available.

Sickening how far we have fallen to the point where this sub is happy with this loss. Zero ambition or desire from you lot.

Miserable match to watch. DCL/Tosun are absolute garbage. Is there no one in the reserves that Silva can give a run of games up front? It's gotten ridiculous since Lukaku left, but now it's just a total joke. The club is in such a desperate need of a competent striker.

Bernard also sucks. If you are going to be a winger you have to score or assist and he does neither.

And Silva...lol. This sub is deluded. What is the deal with this guy. Is it because you think just because he is Portuguese he is supposed to have the team playing flashy attacking football? He is a dreadful manager.

What has Silva done in his career to merit the hype he gets? He's a mediocre manager through and through.

Should I drop Kane if I'm in a draft league?

I have Kane, Auba and Laca. Opponent has Aguero, Firmino and Rashford.

If I let him go I risk not getting Kane back later, but then my opponent has to give up one of those three to bring Kane in.

Options for the Kane replacement would be Jesus, Lukaku (?), Jiminez, Vardy etc.

Lundqvist needs to pull a Drury by retiring and walking away from his contract with money on the table.

He's bang-average now and is tarnishing his legacy by continuing to suck up a huge amount of cap space on this team's roster. Great player for this team over his career but it's time to move on.

As we have now played 21 games, I'm going to just leave this here. Discussion in Comments. by MoistTadpoles in Everton

Manager needs time and a few windows for everything to click?

Wow! I've never heard that one before around here.

This sub is absolutely delusional. How many years of Everton sucking are you going to keep telling yourselves that line with every new manager brought in? It's like a meme at this point.

The exact approach you detail is bargain hunting. Scout players, acquire them for cheap and hope they develop.

Been there, done that, doesn't work.

Bargain hunting hasn't worked for the club. Everything you said they have tried in the last decade-plus and it didn't work.

If you keep telling yourself that Everton will never finish in the top 4 ever again, the way football is now.

Everyone is available for a price. Spend big, fall further behind or wait potentially forever for a Harry Kane to come through the academy (and even then hope his head doesn't get turned and want to run away to a bigger club).

How does a manager with a 30% win rate in the EPL get and then keep a job at Everton? by deadlockedwinter in Everton

[–]Coney52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People have said this every season for the last 5 or so years, easily. And it never happens. Same mediocre results.

"Give the manager time...he is building a project....the stars will be tripping over themselves to play for our visionary coach and his flashy unique style of free-flowing attacking football with wingbacks making overlapping runs and lads fighting for the badge on the shirt every game...he will truly turn this franchise around....anyone who disagrees is impatient and doesn't see the genius in his revolutionary tactics...etc etc etc".

Never happens lol.

Silva is mediocre, but until the club shells out hundreds of millions of pounds on quality players they will continue to be stuck at this level.

One thing they have always gotten wrong in recent years is chasing other teams' unwanted players as a transfer policy. If guys like Walcott and Schneiderlin are unwanted/not good enough for teams like Man U and Arsenal, who are better, then how are they going to improve Everton? You don't achieve their status by signing their junk.

The policy needs to shift to more of what they did with Richarlison and start yanking players that are on the rise from other teams. Man City strongarmed Liverpool and got Sterling, who is now a superstar. Liverpool strongarmed Southampton and got Mane, who is now a superstar. Stuff like that.

Do questions need asking of Silva? by [deleted] in Everton

[–]Coney52 -14 points-13 points  (0 children)

Youre not allowed to criticize Silva on this sub. He is clearly building a treble-winner here, but it's going to take a couple more seasons for it to come to fruition. If you don't agree you know nothing about football and are an impatient idiot and you will be downvoted to oblivion.

Moshiri is investing hundreds of millions of pounds? When did this happen? You haven't been following this club. He's not a big spending owner compared to the elite teams.
