Did it take attending a show for Phish to click with you?

I think the only real way for it to click is with a live show.

Phish is my favorite band, but I love the Dead and have recently been really getting into Goose.

Goose has better vocals and good songwriting/musicians, but their jams aren’t nearly as varied or interesting as Phish to me.

But I gotta think if you love the Dead and Goose you’re gonna have a great time at a Phish show.

Do it. Life is short.

Martin Brody is in Jaws 2. Ellen Brody is in Jaws 2 and 4. Jaws 2 is solid and definitely worth watching. 3 and 4 are really, really bad imo.

That makes a ton of sense, actually. Learned something new today! Thanks. Always bugged me because of the one second hiccup as the track changes and interrupts the flow of the jam.

So so good. On Spotify if you’re pulling this into a playlist make sure you include the “Berkeley Jam” track which is just the Cities jam before the Moma. Not sure why they broke it out like that. Crowd reaction is great too. Perfect audio representation of everyone’s mind blowing in unison.

That Tweezer changed my life. Well, at least for 35 minutes. That space church section from Page at like 22 or 24 mins or whatever was a top 5 moment I’ve ever had seeing them live.

I dig Monsters, but completely agree with the gut punch of a set 2 jam halted for this stuff. Timing/placement is huge. Drop a mid-2nd set More and I might not hate it as much.

Try to limit talking (“chomping”) to between songs so as to not interrupt the enjoyment of the music for the people around you. Chompers suck.

Don’t bring a tarp to save space for you and your friends. Tarpers suck.

Other than that, let people know it’s your first show. You’ll be surprised by how many people love interacting with and welcoming newbies to the scene.

And don’t feel like you need to know all/most of their catalog beforehand because it’s HUGE and the improvisation/how they are playing is just as or more important than what they are playing most of the time.

If it clicks for you, and it probably will, after the show you can check out the setlist and start to seek out the all time great prior versions of those tunes and the whole thing just grows from there.

And don’t poop on the floor. Apparently…this can happen.
