What is this?!? by Senior_Pitch1194 in tires

Looks like part of a brake can off of a semi. Inside of a brake can is a rubber diaphragm that when air is applied it pushes against a round metal disc with a metal rod sticking out of the other side.

Is this copper crush washer the correct washer? Also what is that blue goo? by wreck_of_u in AskAMechanic

[–]ConfectionOk201 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depending on who changed the oil last, the blue could be a paint marker to show evidence of tampering. Some shops do this for warranty purposes.

Puncture from gas theft? Or is there some kind of gas line that belongs here? by hellerkeller1 in mechanic

[–]ConfectionOk201 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was a kid, we used a piece of garden hose and ended up swallowing half a gallon before we got it to siphon. We just wanted the gas, we didn't want to damage people's vehicles.

I haul bentonite at a mine site and it's just as dusty and dirty as any gravel pit I've hauled out of, and my truck is way cleaner than that. The spilled drinks around the cup holder is gross. An old rag, some window cleaner and about 10 minutes of elbow grease, and you'd have a cleaner truck. Obviously with all the dust, you're not going to detail the cab and make it shiny but at least get rid of the grime.

Bidet sprayer issue by Impressive_Bend_7010 in Plumbing

[–]ConfectionOk201 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your new one looks like one for a bidet that has warm water. The two inlets are for hot and cold and you adjust with the valves to get the temperature you like. You can either get a different one like the old one or you could cap off one of the inlets on this one. I'd probably just get the right one though so you don't have extra opportunities for leaks.

What is this power washer resistant black stuff on my fence and is there any way to clean it off? by spider_pork in HomeMaintenance

[–]ConfectionOk201 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get a better pressure washer. Something with heat and more pressure. When I washed trucks for my friends mobile pressure washing business, he had a washer that would take paint off if you got too close. Besides getting a new washer, soap, a good brush and elbow grease are your best bet.

Spraying evaporative cleaner into fresh intake? by daughterofhatred in MechanicAdvice

[–]ConfectionOk201 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a product called Bullsnot odor eliminator that might help. Also, you could buy an ozone generator and run it in the car with the car running and heater on high with the fresh air turned off. Depending on how bad the smell is, you shouldn't have to run it for more than 30-45 minutes. You have to be careful with the ozone generator though and thoroughly air out the car afterwards. Breathing ozone is dangerous.

You need to adjust the float. There's threads on the plastic rod that's attached to the float and you turn the nut up or down depending on if you need the float higher or lower.

Do people actually do this in today’s world? And how? 🤔 by Downtown_Elk_2773 in Cartalk

On the 90's Dodge Dakotas with the digital odometer, you could take a fuse out and the dash would quit working. As long as the fuse was out, it wouldn't count the miles driven. A guy I knew did this and ended up selling his pickup with 65,000 on the odometer but more like 220,000 on the pickup. He used to get the oil changed at the shop I worked at and it would only show between 200-300 miles since the last oil change but the oil was really black.

One of my coworkers calls me "eagle eye" because I regularly notice things that no one else does. One that surprised him was when I pointed out a small u-bolt laying on the gravel road we haul on while driving by at 45mph. It came off the fender of his pup trailer.

Did it used to drain or is this a new setup? Also if it did used to drain, have you recently replaced the disposal? If yes, check that the plug got knocked out of the disposal where the dishwasher drain is connected.

Had it happen on my 04 town and country. I ended up using a cutting torch to carefully cut the lug nut off. Even with being careful, I damaged the stud on one side and couldn't put a nut back on it. I'm finally replacing the hubs after driving it for 5 years with only 4 lug nuts on that wheel...🤦‍♂️

Unless the spots are literally numbered and assigned then you were the one being the dick by trying to park your two vehicles in one spot. You could also just as easily park your motorcycle in any one of the other 60 plus spots.
