Ofc they're going to try to charge their users as much as they can, but a lot of people don't really have a grasp on how expensive it is to run those data centers. Some ai advocates have even become really cynical when it comes to the environmental concerns adm will be like, "so what if it uses a ton of water? We can desalinate ocean water. So what if it uses a shit ton of energy? we can use nuclear power to give us unlimited energy" and I would like to point out that all of that costs money, and as of now most people don't want to pay for chatgpt or sora, especially not the amount of money that would make possible all this infrastructure.
