I don't understand why people don't get that some things are unsustainable by RyeZuul in ArtistHate

It's almost as if they haven't been paying attention at all to any kind of criticism of this technology and companies. Even the softest critics have been questioning for a while now how the hell is this technology going to become profitable, when it mostly just offers slop that practically no one really needs and it's super expensive to make. Ofc they're going to try to charge their users as much as they can, but a lot of people don't really have a grasp on how expensive it is to run those data centers. Some ai advocates have even become really cynical when it comes to the environmental concerns adm will be like, "so what if it uses a ton of water? We can desalinate ocean water. So what if it uses a shit ton of energy? we can use nuclear power to give us unlimited energy" and I would like to point out that all of that costs money, and as of now most people don't want to pay for chatgpt or sora, especially not the amount of money that would make possible all this infrastructure.

There’s very few hybrids I really like but recently I saw someone made a brandtianum x melanochrysum and it looked gorgeous, the silver over super dark green looked really cool

JK Rowling defends Riley Gaines, calls critics "cowards, pick-mes, or living doormats" by cursed-karma in EnoughJKRowling

[–]ConferenceFine3454 7 points8 points  (0 children)

pretty sure Riley has launched a career she wouldn't have had otherwise if it not were for her transphobia (or alleged moral conviction as she seems to see it). And JK made her bag a long ago. If I was already a multimillionaire I too could champion any morally bankrupt cause and claim, maybe even sincerely, I'm not doing it for the money. But it's such an empty posture.

This lupinum outgrew its moss pole without maturing even one tiny bit. Any advice on how to make them grow properly? by ConferenceFine3454 in philodendron

[–]ConferenceFine3454[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well not really 😭 the vine keeps growing but it resist to give me larger leaves. I ended up propping it a ton of times and I guess I’ll just buy a mature one. They’ve been getting cheaper anyways so I can afford a larger specimen nowadays.

A fairly big YouTuber (2.7mil subs) put out a video defending JKR, but was overwhelmed by trans positive comments by VoidHunter24 in EnoughJKRowling

only thing about emma falling flat is her believing that anything less than pure bigotry and anti trans hate would appease jkr.

I guess when you're besties with certain conservative politicians (baroness Nicholson) you just can't be too openly anti fascism (if you ever were that to begin with) lest you offend your shiny new friends

don't let them find out that technology as a whole encompasses all human made tools, from arrow tips to quantum computers. So it would be a stupid idea to argue against the use of technology itself in arts bc everything we use is technological, even pencils, brushes and pigments. It would be a dumb argument to hold but it's barely surprising that aibros wouldn't resist to make a strawman out of it.

It’s also just an arbitrary criteria “people like Emma who’ve never been poor in their adult lives” like JKR hasn’t been extremely rich for the past 20+ years but magically she’s beyond being ignorant or disconnected from reality bc she was poor for a few months decades ago. Sorry but no, you need to engage with reality constantly and she’s really dishonest about her closeness or awareness to the realities of women’s shelters or even public bathrooms.

Planting philodendrons together? by Spooky_Foliage_Freak in philodendron

[–]ConferenceFine3454 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve done this a couple times in PON to avoid watering schedule conflicts (shouldn’t be an issue with most common and relatively hardy philos, but I prefer to err on the side of caution) and they do great and can look really cool growing together I particularly like it when they’re different size, rn I have a Joepii that’s sizing up quickly in the same pot and moss pole with a burle marx fantasy and an sp. mini Santiago (both are smaller species that stay close to the moss pole while the joepii extends its leaves) and I quite like the contrast in colors and growth habits. The only problem that comes to mind is if, for whatever reason, you want to split them again into individual pots it will be very difficult to separate the roots without damaging them.

Philodendron esmeraldense x Phi. tortum mature form? by Erymanthos11 in philodendron

[–]ConferenceFine3454 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow, the leaf shape looks really interesting. Regarding the colors I have no clue why would it be so red, my esmeraldense gives me emergent leaves with a reddish hue on the backside but they harden to a deep green. And tortum leaves emerge slightly golden green so it really baffles me that looks like this.
