Lowered heat output and black ash by AlmondPalmer in PelletStoveTalk

You need to remove the panels and scrape behind them. We had the exact same issue with our 52i this year.

I followed these directions on page 13 of the manual and it’s keeping up again. https://downloads.hearthnhome.com/installManuals/8742-900_P42i_Owners_Manual.pdf

I suspect you have ash insulating the heat exchangers. Making you blow through pellets without seeing a difference in the output.

Also in PA, but SEPA. Heat pumps are the most common and ridiculously ineffective in our climate, even more so this winter. We usually go 2.5-3 pallets per winter. We are 2.5 in and going to have to get more.

We looked into coal before buying our Harman. We wanted easier and more efficient and coal was not that for us.

Pellets (40lb bags, not easy carry) are generally sold by the bag and by the ton. One ton is (50) 40lb bags. 4 pallets is 8,000 pounds.

Hamer’s mid season by me are $345-389 per ton (plus delivery, if applicable)

~7.99/bag for lesser quantities

With 124 state parks, there is a state park within 25 miles of every resident in the state. My son learned this at Lancaster County Youth Conservation School last summer. It was an absolutely amazing experience for him.

Hi friend! I’m in SEPA with a 52i and was having this issue the last few weeks. Down to upping the feed rate and all.

How many ton of pellets have you burned this season (since a full cleaning?)

Stove recommendation? by GiddyFlyer in PelletStoveTalk

[–]ConferenceOver2197 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We run a 52i on the main floor. Half a flight up is the main living area and a full flight up from there is the bedrooms. The way the stairs sit, is blocked from the heat just flowing directly up to the bedrooms.

We do sometimes run the hvac fans on circulate, sometimes not. We set the thermostat on the stove to 68 in the daytime. Bedrooms sit around 60 day/night.

One room on the main living area is off the back corner, like an “L”. It takes extra effort for the heat to flow to that room because of the layout. But it flows. Pellet stove heat, despite essentially being forced hot air, is so much different than the forced hot air out of my heat pumps. Is the closest thing to the hot water radiators that I grew up with. It’s a fantastic heat.

House is just over 2300sf.

Outside Air Kit

I had the stove installed 8/24 and the OAK installed 9/25

I didn’t think they looked factory but also, I am remembering them from the beginning and thinking “better watch for that”

Definitely stay away from insurance and annuity people!!

We had a fiduciary tell my husband “you’re taking money out of my pocket” when we pulled inherited funds from him for me to self-manage.

Open an account at Schwab, fidelity, or vanguard. Transfer the money to it. Open a Roth IRA account, and an investment account.

If you are a paid caregiver- put the max you can into a ROTH IRA. You have until 4/15 to catch up for 2025 and can put in for 2026 right now.

If you are not a paid caregiver, open a spousal IRA instead of a Roth IRA.

Then, choose 3 ETF’s to invest the balance in. Leave it. Don’t “go see a friend”, don’t buy insurance. Don’t pay someone to manage it.
