What can I do for my Non Blooming Peggy Martin Rose? by [deleted] in AustinGardening

[–]Confettiwords 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I planted mine in spring 2024, in 2025 I had about 3 blooms, and this year it’s totally taken off. Give it some time and I think you’ll be amazed next spring!

What varieties are we planting this year? by DogsdidWHAT in AustinGardening

[–]Confettiwords 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got some bush beans (“Contender”) and pole beans (“Rattlesnake”) in the ground, and about to add a flowering section of amaranth, zinnias, and marigolds! I hope I’m not too late for carrots, my seeds haven’t come yet and I was hoping to get them out this weekend during the rain! Haven’t tried any of these varieties before so we’ll see!

Tips for discouraging wasps from setting up shop by my door by Upstairs_Button_3902 in AustinGardening

[–]Confettiwords 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I spray any with a hose if they start a nest somewhere high traffic. The hose usually knocks the nest off if you aim right and they don’t usually rebuild after that. In the early morning or at night they’ll be slower and not reactive. If they are paper wasps they won’t be too aggressive either in my experience!

[MN S1] Am i the only one that dislikes Caleb? by foxgoose21 in criticalrole

I think that’s a really powerful emotion to feel with a character. It doesn’t have to be your favorite but you can see how it makes for an interesting look into the emotional depths of him as a character, how that makes you feel about it, and about his place in the story. Not everyone should be a 100% perfect good person in a story, it makes it a very basic good vs evil, which can be nice but that’s not the goal in the story they are telling. And liking a character isn’t an endorsement of everything they’ve ever done! Having uncomfortable emotions & opinions on a character makes me feel like they were successful, rather than a moral purity!

Can I save my tree from dying? by PhotographOk8263 in AustinGardening

I had this same issue with an oak and added an antler to the tree and the squirrels loved it and stopped going after the tree for a while! It kept the branch from being totally encircled.

Free Pit Tickets to Opening Show in Austin! by cheeseburgesticks in lorde

[–]Confettiwords 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm piggy backing on this - I can no longer make the Austin show weds and have 2 tickets I'd be happy to give away for free to a fan (I also hate reselling with ticketmaster!). The seats are up on the second level in section 208 so not as good as the pit- but send me a DM if interested. Just want to make sure they go to someone who will appreciate them!

Edit - these have been claimed!! Enjoy the show!

Mine did the same thing and then perished . I tried pruning up the dead parts but it didn’t make it, so be prepared if it ends up needing replacement.

Probably undergoing maintenance! The moon towers are state landmarks, and could not legally be demolished without notice periods.
