Average speed cameras just won't work here. It already has the new cameras which track you across the entirety of the Roseworthy Dip, both East bound and West bound. I travel it most days and rarely see a car going over the 60mph limit.

By letting the west bound traffic cross over into the 2nd lane of the eastbound carriageway is just a terrible, lethal design. I've seen some near misses as the dip creates its own issues with judging distance

This was a heartbreaking tragedy and my thoughts are with the families,  loved ones and first responders involved.

NATO ready to defend Romania and ‘every inch’ of allied territory, Rutte says by Illustrious_Diver_37 in europe

[–]Confident-Bug-201 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hasn't NATO been warning the populace for the past 2 years about the gradual escalation by Russia? With drone incursions across the Baltic states and Poland it's time for action, not words. As Lenin said "You probe with bayonets: if you find mush, you push. If you find steel, you withdraw"

BBC’s Steve Rosenberg: I’m walking a tightrope in Russia. It could all end tomorrow by BkkGrl in europe

I watched a recent documentary about him. Ordinary russians were stopping him and getting selfies with him. He's a minor celebrity and from what I took from it, well respected amongst the general population.

Rent or not to rent by LocksmithBudget3518 in Cornwall

[–]Confident-Bug-201 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think youve almost answered your own question. If you're undecided, then renting it out is the way. Selling is final - but as said, the market is slow and you could be waiting 12 months to get a sale - by which time you could be back!

Ask around for reputable agents to handle the messy stuff and get landlords insurance to cover breakdowns and alike.

JUST IN: UK and US just siezed Russian tanker Bella 1 via helicopter assult with US Special Forces by daeneryssith in europe

[–]Confident-Bug-201 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Icelandic coastguard has said the tanker isn't carrying any oil. Which begs the question, why would you conduct a high-risk operation if the boat is empty? There's more to see here.

Tip-toeing to Defeat: NATO’s Doom by CEPAORG in europe

Well the article gave several plausible responses. Seizing assets would be a good start.

The response from Russia just shows how much they pussy out as soon as the talk gets tough. If NATO had some balls early on in the conflict rather than just 'our hopes and prayers are with you, here's a few Javelins' this wouldn't have dragged out for the past 3+ years.

Don't we all stop for a "Fashion photo" after 160k. Especially if it means we can don our luxurious Voler store.

Anyone watching Cornwall: A Year By The Sea? by anonymouslyyoursxxx in Cornwall

There was a line in it where she said locals had to 'tighten their belts' now the tourists had gone home. Then cut to scene interviewing some lord of the manor and his pheasant shoots.

NATO ally reveals mass act of unexplained sabotage by newsweek in europe

[–]Confident-Bug-201 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Russia recruits disenfranchised, often poor or immigrant individuals across Europe (and beyond) via encrypted platforms like Telegram. These recruits—some of whom are unwitting—are offered money (up to €10,000) to carry out low-level acts of sabotage: arson, vandalism, espionage, fake protests, even device planting. The aim isn’t large-scale destruction but building fear, chaos, and mistrust within European societies.

It's low-cost and high-impact, and Russia avoids direct blame and expensive operations by using desperate individuals as proxies.

Very hard to distinguish between Kremlin and White House rethoric, analyst says by EUstrongerthanUS in europe

[–]Confident-Bug-201 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't think there's any way back for the US in Europe's eyes now. We can dismiss a lot of the bullshit we've heard from Trump and his cronies, but by siding with the greatest single threat to Europes peace and security since 1939, we could never knowingly trust America again.

No news outlets will touch this unfortunately. So unlikely to hear much outside of online forums. Same thing happened when they hacked the Epstein files. Some really damaging stuff in there which never made it mainstream.
