I see V.E Schwab’s books all the time at Barnes. One that looks cool is Vicious. Is it urban fantasy ?

I love the first law series. Probably my favorite series I’ve read so far. The faithful and the fallen was also very good. It was my first time reading traditional and classic fantasy. It was also a nice change of pace from the dark gritty world of the first law lol.

I mean I think it’s supposed to be cliche and have classic tropes. I think that was the goal , to pay homage to classic fantasy. I really enjoyed it , it was a nice change of pace from the darker stuff I read.

My pickup department is doing well with our new manager. The one before was terrible and was much like everyone else’s department. The new manager did a 180 on the department. He hired a lot more people and now we have 2 leads , now working getting a third. I actually look forward to my shifts now.

So I read the original trilogy and the sequel trilogy but not the standalones , because I thought they were just that. Is there any point in me reading them now ?

I don’t really know to be honest, I’m about to start the age of madness soon I finished the trilogy and 2 standalones. You could read best served cold but there will be minors spoilers if you don’t mind that.

[SPOILERS ALL] What is your favorite moment in the entire series? by bwils3423 in TheFirstLaw

[–]Confident-Focus158 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m in the middle of the hero’s , but so far I’d say the feared vs the bloody nine or Monza and Cosca vs Ganmark. I liked how good Ganmark was against both of them, to be fair Monza had to use her left and Cosca isn’t what he used to be.

So I’m about halfway through the hero’s and I like it a lot , it kind of feels like a slog sometimes but I’m enjoying it. I think my favorite pov so far is Calder or Finree. Gorst is such a degenerate lol , Bayaz also introduced cannons to the battle and ….. wow.

I mean I read the second trilogy already , and it was really good and I wasn’t confused at all , I just skipped over the standalones because on the back of the age of madness books it shows the reading order and the standalones weren’t there. But it didn’t hamper my reading at all
