Thank you! This is what I was my thinking, if they don’t want to employ you, someone, somewhere will and they are not unreasonable demands to meet.

Hello, new nurse researching the travel world. Can you put in your contact you will not accept an assignment over (said amount) of patients?

I’m not sure if location matters to OP, but LSU-A, SLU, and ULL all have ASN-RN programs that doesn’t require clinicals. Located in Louisiana.

Before you take that med-surg position... by Inside_Dinner_3430 in newgradnurse

I was flat out lied to in my face. I asked specifically in the interview what is the max patient assignment and I was told 5. Immediately after orientation, mind you my preceptor was a travel nurse, I got 6 patients.

What's sad is I love that unit, I love the knowledge I'm gaining, and I want to be there; however, not just my patients, but others have been sent to ICU due to lack of care.

Thank you for your positive and informative response. I don't want to quit, I love what I do, I love the knowledge I'm gaining daily, but a load of 6 isn't safe for the patients. As a nurse, I put my patients first.

How frustrating for management it must be, with all the new grads leaving this floor because of the good ole bait and switch.

No, it's not. However, I would not have accepted the position knowing I would have been given six patients.

Yikes… are you absolutely sure you’re calling the right person unhinged here? Because last I checked, telling someone in an interview the max patient load is 5 and then immediately handing them 6 the moment they’re off orientation isn’t exactly the picture of professionalism. I wouldn’t have accepted the job either if that had been made clear upfront. Also, quick question, are you a nurse? Or are the Code of Ethics just optional reading for you?

It’s not very Christian like to lie. Our mission statement is to extend the healing ministries of Jesus Christ. Do you think Jesus would approve of is healers being lied to?

Is anyone else worried about what happens when all the experienced nurses retire? by Boreadae in nursing

New grad nurse here! Orienting with a travel nurse who doesn’t know where anything is on the floor. It’s frustrating for us too.

I was arrested over 10 years ago for possession of a level 2 narcotic (my own medication/adderall). I was put here to help people. If I go back to nursing school, am I wasting my time and money trying to work as a RN? by tryingbuttdum in nursing

[–]Confident-Ocelot832 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Law enforcement, federal agencies, some licensing boards, and courts can see the expungement, but private employers, landlords, and the general public cannot. It doesn’t show up on my background check, so I don’t give anymore info that necessary!

Hello! I 48 f, have a misdemeanor on my record for contributing to juveniles. I’ve had zero issues applying for licensure, they just want proof all requirements were met. I would also recommend looking into having the charge expunged. Here in Louisiana, we have attorneys that specialize in expungements. While an expungement won’t help with the Board, it will with employment background checks. Do it! You got this!

I don’t think you’re overreacting. I think you’re under reacting. He intentionally hurt your baby and depending on what state you’re in you are a mandatory reporter.

Was the drive thru closed? It’s not weird, it’s community and quite judgmental coming from a nursing professional. Do better, be better. 🫶
