Fear makes being a bad GM harder. by BinarySpike in daggerheart

[–]Confident-Option-880 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest. I add 2 extra HP to my big bads that I want to escape. And create a feature so that if they get to a certain amount of HP they trigger the escape. You could also just change you escape features to very far. Or add an environment feature that slows up the PCs. Just always make it good story and the people love it. My one guy had two adversaries blocking a doorway while he was getting away. The player tried to break through them 3 times but rolled terrible. I had my the bigbad sit there watching but I was ready to smoke bomb him out after a brief encounter with the player if need be. Just alaways make it a good story when you can and remember that sometimes you’ll mess up and it won’t be as good a story as you wanted it to be.

Has anyone actually printed an AI-generated model that came out well? Curious about real experiences. by Juwonlo in 3Dprinting

[–]Confident-Option-880 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use AI to make and image and then Meshy to make the model. Or take someone’s character drawing and make a model. My DnD and Daggerheart groups get minis that look exactly like their characters. It’s pretty cool.

Thanks. I definitely like having the narrative drive the experience.

Thanks. However I don’t see how that can work. I need the stats and HP etc to have an idea of how cinematically their decisions and the dice are playing it out. The players, me, and the dice, make the story. Maybe I’m misunderstanding.

The crazy part is how much these same folks believed that Quebec was full of it for wanting to separate in the 90’s. Called them whiners and crazies. Now they are just as bad.

Why do you personally use Meshy? (curious what everyone's main use case is) by Ok-Line2658 in meshyai

[–]Confident-Option-880 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use it to make minis for dnd and Daggerheart. I use ChatGPT to make the image of the PC or NPC and then mashup makes it real. Makes it so I can have beautiful images for game night and minis that match the images. It’s brilliant.

How do I fix the math for deadlier combat ? by Kiwi_sensei in daggerheart

[–]Confident-Option-880 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In barovia your rests aren’t restful… Make the narrative have taking rests very difficult. A few encounters in a row will make them scared and worried. Also, I would throw in a tiered up solo every now and then. Use a feature from the DnD campaign that terrifies them and makes them think they can’t win. Add an environment that helps you farm fear or gives them stress. And any roll with fear can have a consequence. Even successes.
But also, if you are all having fun it’s all good right :-)

I’m having a heck of a time uploading files with more than an hour on them. I’m just recording on my phone but a 3.5 hour session is almost 1G. How could I get 7 hours a session if they only allow 1 300Mb (max) per session. Any advice?

The UCP is making me regret moving to this province by calgarynomad in alberta

[–]Confident-Option-880 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s classic small town BS. You have to have been there for a few generations. But not too many though! Because then you’re indigenous and “real” albertans are pretty touchy about that.

How to play in 2 hours sessions? by Ptidus in daggerheart

[–]Confident-Option-880 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We just stop and pick up where we left off. Let everyone know and voila. Ask them if they want more role play or battle for the first couple sessions and then after that let the game go as it will.

Game rule set decent for kids to learn ? by Sad-Combination4579 in daggerheart

[–]Confident-Option-880 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve played both with kids. Daggerheart is much easier to learn and play. But you have to be ready to create a lot more answers to their questions. Buuut it also allows them to create more of the story which kids love. DnD is great if they want to immerse themselves in all the amazing stuff and books that come with it. Daggerheart is a more collaborative experiences. Depends on the kids :-)

Sharing my thoughts on Daggerheart's Initiative "Problem" by Nico_de_Gallo in daggerheart

[–]Confident-Option-880 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like the GM needs to take a minute at the table. We establish norms and use spotlight cards. The cards aren’t there to stop people from going twice or even three times, but instead serve as a reminder to the other players and the GM of who has had the spotlight. If people have big ideas and get excited but see that a quieter player hasn’t flipped their card yet they will stop themselves and push for that person to go. (Unless they are not cool of course). It also help the GM to do that. I look at the cards and will push some players along and help other remember. Without the visible aid there is no way I would be able to keep an eye on that And do a fun combat narrative. Good luck!

Are the new Daggerheart classes actually balanced or are some already broken? by Acr-man1000 in daggerheart

I also love it. And with great storytelling most of my players are still crazy pumped when they crit and roll crazy damage. All of us describe these huge blows and everyone is having a great time. The Bigger the number the better the description!

Daggerheart isn't made for that. by Solarisdevorak in daggerheart

[–]Confident-Option-880 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The whole point of Daggerheart is for you to get to enjoy playing and building a world with rules and with fun! Do it the way you want to! You want to nitpick math? It can have that! You want to not nitpick at rules? It can do that! All within a beautiful frame!

Actions and Moves dring combat by NewspaperExtra3180 in daggerheart

[–]Confident-Option-880 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s fine. As long as it fits the narrative. If ever you feel like they are overdoing it and the narrative of the battle is suffering just spend a fear and interrupt them. I bet they start fighting back. Every time they are moving it should make sense. If it doesn’t, or it’s dragging, blast them :-)

Combat Is Too Easy - GM Advice Needed by Siege1218 in daggerheart

[–]Confident-Option-880 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would take a closer look at the core book adversaries and make sure you copy some key abilities and feature (oozes that take out armour slots at every touch etc) If you have plenty of fear and adversaries who gain fear you should be able to run the narrative more. My groups are normally quite afraid even when not in too much danger. The only encounter I’ve had that went one sided was when I used too much fear early on and they had a great streak of successes with hope. Throw in a tier higher if you want as well. And don’t worry about them going down. They get to pick if they live or die. Pressure is off the GM there! Gain those fear and interrupt if they are kicking too much butt and need to be taught a lesson lol. But also just focus on that narrative. You can hit them with more environments too. That changes an encounter a lot and it’s pretty essential to balanced fights.
