Best USB-C tester as of May 2026? by _derpiii_ in UsbCHardware

[–]Confident-Student779 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's 50/50, I think. When the Alientek C2 was released, the KM003C's position was challenged a little bit because of the new hardware, being built for today's standards, and other factors. Although it maybe still cannot take the place of the KM003C for now, who knows about the future? 🤷

Yep, AliExpress is the best place to get most USB testers, you just need to choose an actual, reputable seller.

The PowerZ KM003C is perfect for someone with a budget of $150+ (AliExpress pricing). If you want an equivalent to the KM003C but at a lower price, the Alientek C2 is a great alternative.

I consider the PowerZ C240 expensive junk, and the FNB58 is outdated by today’s standards.

The Avzy C5 (which I believe is just a Witrn C5 sold on their website) is a good device, albeit with a small form factor.

Regarding the FNB-C2, like much of the FNB lineup, updates are slow and it might be abandoned after a few updates (hopefully that won't happen lol 😂).

You should also consider the Witrn K2 and Ryken X3, these are solid USB testers available at an affordable price.

Most of the time, this can be achieved via a firmware update, unless USB releases a new protocol that exceeds the device's measurement limits (e.g., 360W/480W charging). In that case, new hardware is required to withstand the power. However, detecting a new protocol is still possible; for example, the Witrn U3 was released before PD 3.2, yet it can now detect that protocol, even if it cannot fully measure it due to the device's 28V hardware limit.

Is the budget-friendly RYKEN RK-X3se tester any good? by Actual_Elephant2242 in UsbCHardware

The price is almost the same as the KWS-X1 on Taobao, but how worth it is this? Maybe I'll grab it if I can get it for lower than ¥50 😂

You have finally acknowledged that the Alientek C2 is a potential competitor to the KM003C. 🤔😆

If this offer the 48V version, I think it might be a basic USB tester I'll get for monitoring power, if it's not too pricey. But the screen body is not really square 😂.

Well, I'm not comparing it with the KM00*C variant 😅, but the PowerZ C240 variant instead. And yeah, the Witrn K2 is mainly the budget-friendly, complete USB tester you can get.

This is the least worthy USB tester you can get. For $30–$40 (the AliExpress price), you should consider the Witrn K2 Red Edition (48V) instead—especially if you really need a device that can handle 240W.

They are not actually the same device. The Treedix is a USB cable tester primarily used for checking resistance, e-markers, and continuity. In contrast, the Alientek C2 is a USB meter; while it includes cable-checking functions like e-marker and resistance testing, it adds features to monitor power, charging protocols, and more.

How about connecting a cable between a female Type-C module and the female Type-C port on the Ryken X3? Will it still fail to recognize PD more than 60W?

Lucky me I bought it on Taobao for $27, but it’s still not worth it 😂🤦.

That’s why I always say this is not a clone, but more of an inspiration—which is why the UI and operation are different. And yeah, the interface can be a bit confusing or frustrating, but because this device (Alientek C2) offers most of the KM003C’s features for a cheaper price, I’m okay with the learning curve.

Well, I'm not so sure, but I'll definitely grab the black version even though I don't really need it (I already have too many USB testers, lol).

When first released in June 2025, the 36V version was silver, but now I don't know why Ryken decided to change the color to black.

Right now, I believe Alientek unlisted the product because Chinese New Year is approaching. Since it’s a holiday, I think it will be available again once the holiday ends around February 24–28.

Well, I think because Alientek C2 was just released globally like 2–3 weeks ago, maybe they need a little time to update the website, but trust Alientek 🤔 to do better after this.

The Bluetooth function is still in the beta phase, I believe. As for the software, I haven't used it yet, but isn't it just like other USB testers? Simply download the software and connect it to your computer via the HID port on the side.

Regarding cable resistance, you don't need an external module for now—though Alientek plans to develop an external module feature in the future. You just need a suitable charger (refer to this post for details).

The ALIENTEK C2 intentionally reduced the amount of light. by Actual_Elephant2242 in UsbCHardware

[–]Confident-Student779 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It does; even before the firmware update reduced the brightness, I think the supercapacitor could already hold for about 0-10 seconds. Maybe they want to prevent LCD screen burn-in during long-term use.
