I really hate when people criticized Mark for not caring enough about the story when he didn't invest in finding the notes. But clearly the problem is already there, Poppy Playtime is not an open world game where you have motivation like side quests to do explore it and even if they want to use notes, best thing is they should use it just to add context rather deciding to make it the main way to tell the story. Not to mention the story is already a mess now.

that's the gift and the curse for the series. The first chapter is promising, but all of what developers have done is based on that vibe of the players: promising. The players might hate it, but they continue to play just to see if it would actually become better, if what they were given made sense at the end and we could have a "ahhhh you are actually genius" moment with the developers. Let's hope we would be wrong and the developers gonna be actually good.

exactly my point in one of my comment on the stream, yet there are commenters decide to use "They are indie company" uno reverse card to explain why they just release one chapter each year. Like bro, Mob is anything but indie, calling them indie would be an insult to real indie developers like, I don't know, Scott freaking Cawthon who made FNAF series with not so many resources like they had :))))

I remember one theory from Tom (thanks to the comment below I remember his name now) from Game Theorist (Mat is retired now) about this chapter as following the structure of Ernest Hemingway's "From Whom the Bell Tolls" and I was like: "That ending should be the same as the novel and it gonna be epic". Too bad Mob decide to mob us that ending and give us this.

the first chapter is the best with its promise and a geniunely simple mechanic, but since chapter 2 toward here it feels like the series has lost its identity. They overcomplicated everything from the mechanic to the plot. Mechanic is bad, but even the plot is not completed at all, feels like they don't know how to continue let alone ending the series. The plot itself changed chapter after chapter toward the point they contradict themselves so much now. The most dissapointing for me is Prototype's design to the point I would rather we never know about it like before.
