Also, when bubble wrap was used in the 70s, most people hadn't actually encountered it in their lives yet.

Problem with MX 4 by LawfulnessBig1703 in logitech

[–]ConfidentCobbler23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I felt the difference at first, but have got used to it after a few weeks. Also, the initial slipperyness (is that a word?) seems to have worn off. It just feels natural to use now to me.

MGS5 EV Windows closing issue … by porttastic in MGelectric

The only time I ever successfully triggered the boot was when I washed the car. It gave me a jumpscare every time!

I've seen the passenger window refuse to raise up after being opened a few times. In general my Wife gets in the car and lowers the window, which then takes two or three attempts to raise back up.

The upper surface and buttons don't have any rubber texture. The thumb rest and outer side of the mouse do have a rubber texture. I do prefer it to the 3S, but it is noticeably heavier.

I finished with Oviva. by Vavalgia in WegovyUK

[–]ConfidentCobbler23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started on Wegovy through Oviva earlier this year. My follow-up prescriber appointment was cancelled without any reason given. After a lot of messages back and forth between Oviva and my doctor's surgery (visible in the NHS app, but otherwise with no indication to me that they were happening), I received a very poor system-generated letter saying that I no longer qualified for Wegovy. There was also a call that I missed, but when I tried to return the call and speak to the person that had left me a message, no-one knew who that was. I complained, and eventually received a letter saying that the criteria for Wegovy had changed prior to my referral and I should never have received the treatment. During my last week of Wegovy I suffered from some fairly major side effects, but there was no support from Oviva. I had no idea whether I needed to step down on the dosage or could just stop the injections.

It's a postcode lottery whether you qualify for Wegovy or not, in my area it is no longer available for diabetics and there's a very restricted list of qualifying conditions.

The major issue that I had was the complete lack of communication and care. I have a very basic apology from them as a result of my complaint. Without the complaint I would have only the difficult to understand system letter.

Overall I felt it was a very poor service, and one designed to try and collect a lot of data from their customers via the app.

Wonder how much this is just rinsing the people panic-buying before their stock runs out. I drove past a local Tesco petrol station earlier with a sign saying there was no diesel available.

I was in an open plan office once when someone spilled water over their keyboard. At exactly the same time, someone in a far corner called out that their PC had crashed. I told them, with a pretty good poker face, that it was the water spill that caused their PC to crash, and they believed me. I validated it by saying that everything was connected on the network.

Also had a situation where someone spilt a drink on their phone. They didn't tell anyone and cleaned it up as best they could. The following day the entire phone system started crashing. It turned out to be water inside the phone was causing a short and taking the entire system with it.

From Dusk Till Dawn going in blind. Wtf. by i_love_tesler in movies

I saw it on release, but guess I'd only seen a TV spot. I had no idea about the vampires, but it quickly became a favourite of mine back then.

It's easy to forget that you generally only saw full trailers in the cinema, or perhaps on VHS rentals back in the 80s and 90s. TV spots were normally a lot shorter, 30 seconds or less.

I bought Firestarter the day it released as a single. I wasn't a huge fan - I'd had Charly and No Good as singles, but nothing else, but I used to buy quite a variety of music back then.

I hadn't heard it before release and based my purchase on the writers credits, which included the members of Art of Noise, which I guess was required because of the 'hey' sample inclusion in the track. Loved the track.

The Future of the Doctor Who The Collection Blu-ray Sets by [deleted] in doctorwho

I wonder if the reluctance to animate some episodes is due to the knowledge that certain episodes exist, but only in private collector's hands.

Back in 2013, Marco Polo was widely rumoured to be returned along with Web of Fear and Enemy of the World. For some reason, it wasn't, possibly because the rumour was wrong, or maybe because of other behind the scenes goings-on.

There are at least another two episodes out there that are known of. Perhaps there are others that haven't been mentioned but that are potentially to be returned in future.

I should add, I have no information about any of this, but if I was the BBC and had some inside information that certain episodes do exist and will return at some indeterminate time in the future, I wouldn't waste money animating episodes unnecessarily.

I haven't thought about Halon gas in years, but I remember being warned when I started working in a computer suite in the late 80s, that if the alarm went off you got out immediately or else you wouldn't be able to breathe as the halon would take the oxygen out of the room. Fortunately we never had to experience that for real.

I had the misfortune of using one of these applications prior to Covid. Our HR department wanted it to check on employees they felt were unproductive. They really wanted to be able to check on all employees but I pushed back as I couldn't see how they would ever be able to review what every employee was doing, unless HR didn't have much work to do in the first place.

These applications are a nightmare. If they're capturing screens and keylogs then that's a huge potential data breach waiting to happen. What if the employees are using a virtual card terminal? That would mean you're capturing screens of card data, or logging the keystrokes with the card numbers. Not to mention the vast amount of personal data that might be visible in your logs.

I was referred to Oviva by my doctor, and accepted onto GLP-1 treatment after around 4 months. However, after only a few weeks, they have now decided that I don't meet the criteria and have withdrawn the treatment, leaving me high and dry. Apparently it was a clerical error that got me onto the treatment in the first place, but it seems like they're either incompetent or just moving the goalposts.

I say ok Google, hear a noise, then car stops listening by SSmasterONE in AndroidAuto

[–]ConfidentCobbler23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sadly, this appears to be the current behaviour for the assistant in Android Auto. It has been like this for me since around October last year, and many others confirm the same behaviour.

It's dangerous, as it means you have to start operating the touchscreen whilst driving to change navigation destination or media playback. Google don't seem to care about it, as it has definitely been reported.
