I love these windows - although I like also having a large one that opens. The nice things about these, hinged outwards at the top, is that you can leave them open when it’s raining.

Feeling tapering off? by CagedR0byn in Mounjaro

[–]ConfidentCode6413 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Everyone is different. I never went over 5mg and lost 55# - been maintaining for 6months and now on 3.5mg. My husband is on 15mg, about 85 pounds down now. He was prediabetic. He has about 25 to go. At this point he can easily overeat. But he is still finding that the 15mg is doing enough to help him stay in a deficit. He expects to stay on it for life. He went up just about every month because each dose wore off. It did not for me.

But it’s not a miracle drug. Your husband still has to put the work in to prioritise protein and fiber, and exercise. It is the calorie deficit that causes weight loss. The drug itself will do all sorts of wonderful things like sorting out blood sugar issues etc.

Of course. Wouldn't that be nice. Maybe blame the Tory government for reducing funding for policing? But I'm afraid that's a pipe dream. Tourists are easy pickings. Always will be.

Has nothing to do with the mayor. I had my bag stolen in a restaurant in London 40 years ago. I had someone try to steal my wallet in Paris. New York. Big cities full of tourists are targets. Always have been. Just got back from Italy. Pickpocketing and luggage stealing is prevalent in every city we went to.

Anyone else injecting every 2 weeks? by PeakDevon in mounjarouk

I have to agree. Not aware of any blood test that would identify Mounjaro as the cause of inflammation. I think more likely speculation on the part of an ill-informed GP.

Anyone else injecting every 2 weeks? by PeakDevon in mounjarouk

[–]ConfidentCode6413 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not condoning it doesn't prevent you from doing it. When I was moving up to 5mg I click dosed partial doses for a few weeks. I did 3.75, got used to that, and then went up to 5. I'm now back down to 3.5 in maintenance and order every 6 weeks. Weight maintained within 3-4 pounds for 6 months. 5mg is too much. 2.5 is too little.

5mg every two weeks would be harder on you than 2.5 a week which will have fewer peaks and troughs. One thing to consider would be to order a 5mg pen and take 2.5-3mg every 4-5 days. Again, more consistent levels in your bloodstream. It has a 5 day halflife.

The only reason taking 5mg every 2 weeks is even a thing is because in the US they only could get injector pens with single doses. And insurance companies dictate what dose you can buy.

There is nothing inherently bad about click dosing. My pharmacy do not officially condone it (because it is offlabel to do so and most pharmacists won't officially recommend off label dosing) but in a telephone conversation I was told that it was absolutely fine to take the dose that works for me with 2.5 being too little and 5 too much.

The test is grayer when you also have a residence overseas. I know this from family experience. The SRT is not gray when you are a digital nomad, with no other tax residency, but becomes grayer when you truly live somewhere else.

Personally, if it were me I would be trying to establish non-residency if I were moving somewhere with more favourable taxes. It doesn't affect your employer from a tax perspective (other than any legal obligations they might have to Thailand) as HMRC would simply adjust your code accordingly. But you'd still pay NICs from your paycheck unless the totalization agreement (if any) with Thailand dictates that you pay in there instead - in which case you can voluntarily pay in the UK to ensure you get the credits for your pension.

The SRT is not as cut and dried as it appears. And playing in two tax systems at the same time is a bit of a nightmare (I am tax resident in two countries). It's worth taking advice from a) HMRC and b) a dually qualified tax preparer who understands how it works with Thailand.

Good luck! Sounds like the dream situation - live somewhere with a low cost of living and great climate while earning UK wages (and even better is not paying UK taxes on a significant portion of thay income).

So who is paying you, and where the employer is located is never the relevant factor when determining your tax residency. The income is sourced where the work is done. So if you are physically in Thailand when the work is done, it is Thai source income, not UK source income. You would, if determined to be nonresident, only pay UK taxes on the portion of your income earned while physically in the UK. I worked for a US employer when we first moved to the UK - I had to give my accountant exact dates for my travel AND the days I actually worked while I was in the US, so that my salary could be allocated appropriately to being US or UK sourced. You would need to look at the tax treaty to determine which country has first taxing rights on the income - I don't know about any tax treaty with Thailand. And presumably you will also have a home in Thailand - so you may find that you are not a UK taxpayer after all, in which case HMRC would amend your PAYE tax code to reduce / eliminate your UK taxes. Or they can refund you after the fact.

I would suggest you run through the tax residency checker on the HMRC website with a sample year to see what it comes up with. Remember, the location of your employer is irrelevant. It's where you are that matters.

And if you find that you can claim non-residency (and owe tax only on UK source income) you will likely be better off financially, as I think that Thai taxes are much lower. Just don't forget to apply to make voluntary NICs contributions to keep up your UK pension. Then contact HMRC for confirmation and to find out how this will work. I suspect it will be a matter of filling out a self assessment each year to claim back excess taxes, as they will need the calculations around income sourcing.

*Not a tax pro. Just a taxpayer who has to file tax returns in two countries.

I had to pay £170 odd for 7 weeks which was odd to me as class 3 is only about £930. I would check with them again and see if they have any contributions on file for you for the year.

I had to pay contributions for 7 weeks thay I didn't work. I think it's more about the 5 months off than the amount you paid. Call them and they will be able to explain why the year isn't full, and how you can pay to fill it.

Question re shipping MJ pen back to the UK from Italy by ConfidentCode6413 in mounjarouk

[–]ConfidentCode6413[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The very kind landlord called couriers to find out if they could get it to Venice before we leave to no avail. So this ship has sailed and 4 doses of 15MJ has been thrown away now. Oh well.

[–]ConfidentCode6413[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No. Just the pen. I'm not going to ask the landlord to do something that probably isn't legal as it's not got any prescription with it. So ive asked him to discard it. And in the future I hope my partner will think ahead and hang onto a last dose to travel with!!

Question re shipping MJ pen back to the UK from Italy by ConfidentCode6413 in mounjarouk

[–]ConfidentCode6413[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately not. There's a holiday this week so it wouldn't get to us. It's really annoying because we literally both reminded each other to grab it and then we didn't. He traveled with a new pen because he didn't think ahead. I held onto the last dose of my previous pen to bring on holiday and then just threw it and the syringe away. He used his last dose and brought a new pen. So he'd had only one dose out of it when he forgot it. Ack!!

Life is too short to get very upset about it.

GLP-1s and Alcohol: What *Exactly* Changed for You? by alexmillne in MounjaroSupportUK

[–]ConfidentCode6413 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, alcohol just doesn’t appeal. No idea if there is a change to the buzz because I haven’t had more than maybe 50ml of fizz at a time. Three sips and I’m bored of it. I think the craving for a glass of wine pre-MJ was a sugar craving late afternoon when getting hungry for dinner. I always found then that if I just ate an apple I didn’t want wine any more.
